so, it’s possible that someone posted about this already but I haven’t seen it anywhere so stay with me
Yesterday I watched ASIP after a long time, and I made a connection that has been in my subconscious since the first time a watched HLV a few years ago.
The stairs from Sherlock’s mind palace? They are the same as the on in the building where Jennifer’s body, the journalist dressed in pink, is founded. (I mean it is not exactly the same, put I think the resemblance is intentional, it’s practically identical).
Which takes me to the fact that Sherlock has this particular place stocked in his mind palace. The place where his and John’s story begins. The house from their first case together. The stairs in which he has his first revelation (Pink!). Where John points out loud how brilliant and fantastic Sherlock is.
And when Sherlock is dying and Moriarty points out John is in danger, the journey that takes Sherlock from death to life is throughout this staircase. He is coming back to John by taking up the stairs where took place their first case together. In fact, (according to another theory that says that the cell where Mortiarty is tide up is Sherlock’s heart) this stair leads to his heart.
So, yeah.
And also, may I point out the difference of light between the two shots. The first one, in the beginning of the series, is dark, shadowy, humid. It’s Sherlock’s life before John.
The second one is light, bright, not only representing his heart, his love, his life now that he has John, but also that’s how Sherlock perceives it during his way back to life, to his John.
That’s it thanks for coming to my ted talk.
