This time for all my Roathe lovers out there.

Despite Uriel being described as smelling like brimstone (ew), I decided to base a perfume off of Roathe. A friend and I thought for a while on what this man might smell like, or at least how to capture his essence. We decided on juniper berry, some kind of woodsmoke, and something zesty/floral. He reminds me of wine and something sweet and floral, but masculine. I found this perfume and sent it to her. I didn’t try it personally, but she described it like this:

“It smells like very sweet pine resin, and crushed juniper, and then when you're like "oh this is too sweet" the sharp spicy note from the sandalwood hits.”

Roathe in a bottle it seems. If you wanna order it and try it out, let me know your opinion!

yayayayyayayayya I timed my Big Christmas Present To Me of a full bottle of Pineward's Murkwood just right and got to be a part of a prototype offer (trying out Bear [pinyon/creosote/cedar/vanilla notes fuck yes inject it into my veins]) and ahhhh I'm so excited and they are so so so lovely in email correspondence and yeeeeeeee sorry but good perfume makes me unhinged! in! the! head!

reveiw (so far) of the pineward perfumes samples

Glühwein - 3.5/5

notes of: cranberry, champaca, cherry compote, raspberry, fir balsam, chocolate, davana attar, oakmoss, tolu balsam, rose, frankincense.

i didn't think i'd like this one as much as i did. it's a versetile, sweet- but not suffocating scent. i was worried about the cherry/chocolate notes as those can really be a bit too heavy if not done right but in the end i was pleasantly surprised. about 2-4 hours in, the base notes of rose and frankincense are most powerful. it's a festive but sexy smell that i think i'll be purchasing. my only down side is that this formula is blood red and i could see it staining white/light coloured clothes pretty badly. i would reccommend trying all of their darker formulas on skin before your clothes if you're worried about staining.

Costal Veil - 1/5

notes of: Juniper Berries, Juniper Needles, Sea Water, Bladderwrack, Coastal Cypress, Oyster Mushroom, Water Pepper, Blue Gum Eucalyptus, Pacific Ambergris, Irish Sea Moss, Sandalwood

i really wanted to like this one. i wanted to love this one actually. unfortunately, this formula smells amazing in the bottle, but reacts with my skin in an odd fasion that makes it smell like burning rubber on me. perhaps highway. or DMT. i think i will be gifting what little i have left to my friends because it was bad on me. i took a shower at hour 5. i will chalk this up to my skin being weird because again, it smells amazing out of the bottle.

Snoqualmie - 5/5

notes of: Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, Red Cedar, Larch, Tamarack, Sandarac Resin.

if you don't know anything about this perfume, it's based off of dir. David Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return, and it's the gift that just keeps giving. this was a sample for my boyfriend that has very quickly become a hot commodity in our household. it's fresh, beautiful, serene and green. you'll be smelling like a tree for the next 3 days. it's amazing on its own or layered, and don't be fooled. i grew up in a coniferous are a and it's still just that good. i'm going to be buying a full size bottle. i thought i would enjoy it but i thought it might be gimmicky- i was dead wrong. it's phenominal, and their sample formula doesn't stain clothes. it lives up to the hype entirely. this perfume is a religious experience and i WILL be proselytizing.

Pottsfeild - 4.5/5

i don't know how i got my hands on this bc i didn't order it and i can't find anything online about it. it's a really good fall/late summer smell, if i had to guess it has notes of honey, hay, lanolin, oats, pumpkin and some florals i can't pin. i'm obsessed & rationing this until more info is available. it reminds me of a summer camp i went to as a child & i love it dearly, though it does make me sneeze. if this ever becomes available i will be buying this ASAP as well.

Murkwood (Pineward) (9/10)

fir balsam, black hemlock, lapsang suchong, moss, incense, bitter myrrh

it smells exactly like a resinous tree early on, and that smell lingers for a while. i had my dad smell it after a bit, and dad said it smelled like incense. it does smell exactly like the sage my mom burns sometimes. it quickly settles into a sort of dark forest vibe that many others have described. it gradually turns into a sweet resin fragrance that clings to your skin. this one had incredible longevity on me, better than anything else i've tried. it also lingered on my skin even after i showered. smells like living in the lair of the beast from the last review. easily one of the best things i've ever smelled.

longevity: 10+ hours

will i use up the sample: probably, i do enjoy it.

would i fs: i don't really know. i don't think so, these samples are enormous and it lasts me a while.

I wore a sample of Brokilän (once again by Pinewald) today and I kid you not it's one of the best resinous scents I've ever tried in my entire life
