Every time you perfume post I try to imagine the scents you're describing like

I really wish i could post scents on social medias and turn my posts into a scratch and sniff experience for everyone!

I finally finished mixing my tinctures with a few other perfumes to see if I can make A Perfect Fragrance, and my room now smells like olibanum, myrrh, styrax, roses, musk, cypress, pine, spices, and ethanol. Maybe the real Perfect Fragrance were all the notes I mixed along the way...

As promised, here's the other perfumes I made from my tinctures:

myrrh + olibanum in equal parts + a few drops of styrax + a few drops of mountain pine essential oil.

They're all pretty resinous and sweet, though the "heavy" resinousness evaporates in about an hour, turning into a more pleasant soft and airy scent during the drydown.

I mixed everything together in 1 just to experiment and it turned out pretty nicely balanced, not bad for a first try!

2 and 3 are the most church-like scents of the batch due to the strong percentage of olibanum. The styrax in 2 turns it into a powdery/sweet simil-vanilla scent halfway through the dry down, while the pine drops in 3 give it a more balsamic opening.

The only downside is that styrax doesn't want to let go of its resinousness even after a month long ethanol soak. 1 and 2 can leave stains on clothes, and 2 in particular is a bit sticky on the skin after a first spray, nothing that some water can't solve. (The jar was a bit loose and I ended up blotching the sink in a category 5 styrax event - pictures under the cut for reference. Let me tell you that was NOT something that water could solve. I scrubbed and rinsed my sink with ethanol and various cleaning products and my hands are STILL a bit sticky. They've never smelled better tho!)

The black cloth in the first picture was originally a white cloth I used to filter the liquid. It's grey now and it smells like vanilla scented fabric softener lol

out of all the companions you have (as in the ones that go in the companion slot), which ones do you consider 'canon' to your fl characters? who's closest to who?

Hey there, ty for the ask and for your patience :D I wanted to really think on this for a bit!

Answers are a bit long, so I'm putting them below the cut!

Silas: Forty-Nine-Voiced Warbler. As someone who deals with chronic nightmares, she finds it soothing to listen to it talk about how her nightmares are meaningless and unfounded (even if she doesn’t always believe its reassurances). As much as Silas wants to seek out others for comfort, their pride and fear of vulnerability often makes them hesitate. The Warbler falls under a loophole for them. In a sense, they're fairly close

Winnie: Untried Tracklayer. During a routine visit to the docks, she intervened when a couple of dockers cornered him. She took pity on his circumstances upon learning that he was meant to return to the Surface. While she knows it’s quite different from his track laying profession, she offered him a job at her pawnshop so that he could earn some income as he adjusts to the Neath. They're not very close, but Winnie trusts him enough to look after the shop.

Odunayo: There’s the Half-Wild Mandrake from BaL. She’s grown quite fond of it and is unwilling to leave it alone, although she learned that its too noisy to accompany her on regular outings. There’s also the Tell-Tale Beetle. She loves bugs, but especially beetles! It’s a nice bonus to be able to collect small secrets from this beetle, even if it often amounts to little more than mildly amusing gossip. Perhaps it's her fondness for beetles, but she does consider herself to be closer to the Beetle

Zouhair: There’s the Cardsharp Monkey from HD, although they’re still trying to figure out their feelings about this. I also say that the Cheerful Goldfish is canon for them! The Goldfish doesn't say much, but having it around helps ease some of Zouhair's loneliness, although they feel bad about not giving it a bigger tank. They've also observed that ever since they've gotten the Goldfish, their nightmares seem to be more infrequent, so they consider it a lucky charm of sorts. I want to say that they're closer to the Monkey though

I need help figuring out what to name the deviless but the barrister is Katherine, and the vicomte is just the landlord now
