emilio jacinto’s getting so much tumblr love, am so happy oh so gleeful 

tengene 10 years old ako when I “fell in love” with him, now i’m ** years old basta old na, don’t ask na lang 

ngayon lang talaga nag-sink in after all these years na idol ko talaga siya. in his less than 5 years sa katipunan, sangkaterba’t sangkatutak ang na-contribute niya sa samahan. he never went half-assed. full tank, mehn. todo bigay ang bata. tactical YOLO powcha. he made every minute of his life count while on some days i can’t even get out of bed and be productive for a minute huhu shame on me

it’s said that his character was GREATER than the works he wrote and that included the kartilya. so talagang walk the talk ang ginawa ni bby boy. be the example. 

he had faults, ends that justified the means, like forging signatures, lying, manipulating to escape capture and death. of course ej was still human. nalulungkot, natatakot, but most of the time, talagang matapang at matibay ang loob. like f*cking hands down.  

you don’t just go on a heavily guarded ship and try to rescue one of spain’s most important prisoners (rizal). kahit may dala kang armas at backup. most likely it could’ve been a suicide mission. save rizal at all costs. but rizal made up his mind for good. i wonder what ej felt nang binaril si rizal sa bagumbayan: did he feel like a failure? did he feel that he should’ve said things differently to convince one of the persons he admired most in his life?

he gave up living his own life, halos pinabayaan na niya ang sarili at ang kanyang mga pangarap para magsilbi sa bayan. latter part of his life nang namalayan niya na kelangan din niya mabuhay para sa sarili. he settled down, opened a meat business, and wrote to mabini about returning to law school. even then, naudlot ang mga iyon. he chose to remain in laguna dahil napalapit na ang mga tao sa kanya and they needed a leader, so he heeded their call.

noong binawian siya ng buhay, buntis ang asawa niya. ni hindi niya nakita ang kanyang anak. ni hindi niya naranasan na magkaroon ng sariling pamilya, na maging tatay, na magkaroon ng karaniwan at matiwasay na buhay.

in the end, he lived up to his name. Pingkian. Inflammable. Flint. Yung kinukuskos na bato para magsimula ng apoy. he knew what he was doing when he picked Pingkian.
