They're helping the narrative
I, for one, LOVE pining. I always enjoy a good pine. I want intense gazes, unspoken tension, stolen glances, a tad bit of jealousy, the whole thing.
Not a guess the trope BUT since you love the pining trope: name BL characters that you think is the best pining boi out there.
What, the best? They’re all the best. EVERY PINING BOY IS THE BEST BOY, OKAY?
Honestly, though? I have a lot of options. There are so many, many, many good piners out there...
Like, Mek! Mek, who would do anything for Boss, anything at all in the end, but was also trying so desperately to cling to their friendship and hide any chance of Boss knowing about his feelings.
Or Gun, who kept his crush on Bar alive for years and years as he improved himself to make himself worthy of the man he loved and never hesitated for a second to let him know how he felt once he thought he’d earned that right.
Or Shi De, who was content to silently pine, to keep his feelings to himself, to hide them and never let Shu Yi worry until it turned out that wasn’t the best way to go about it and maybe just trying to hide your emotions doesn’t work out that well in the end, hm?
Or Leo and Fiat who both tried to protect each other and their friendship and the care that they shared while both hiding the same love for each other because they were trash babies in love what can I say?
Or Shen Wei who waited 10,000 years because he knew he would meet his soulmate again only to realize that all he’d thought he felt was nothing compared to the love that emerged when he saw him again.
How can I pick a best pining boy where there are SO MANY OF THEM?
All pining is best pining!
... I absolutely cannot chose.
okay but give us reasons why to stan/love one of your favorite trope: PINING.
(you're gonna make a list eh? 🥴)
Reasons? Because it’s the BEST THING EVER.
Um, actual reasons?
Because pining is love and pain and friendship and protectiveness and softness and gentleness and affection hidden and trying to keep someone in your life without revealing you secrets.
Pining is secret shrines and songs and privacy and hiding and loving in silence and watching and helping and supporting.
Pining is following and befriending and secret conversations and bandaids and cold water and sneaking into clubs together.
Pining is carrying and feeding and wiping their face when they’re messy and making sure that they know you’re there for them without letting them know how much it matters to you.
Because pining is all about the strength of love and affection even against the odds, even when it seems hopeless, even when you’re sure it’s hopeless.
It’s about love that perseveres against hope.
Pining is choosing to love despite knowing it won’t be returned, it’s loving against your own interests, it’s loving when you know it can’t happen, it’s loving no matter what.
Why do I love pining?
Because pining is about love that lasts, even if it probably shouldn’t.
"I am so in love with him that it hurts."
Oliver's never felt so... enamored by a girl as he was by Felicity Smoak, his partner in his Chemistry lab class.
But he knew better than to ask her out, because a girl as amazing as her would never go for a guy like him. She deserved better.
