A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 348
MY 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 348:
Pretty much me every morning at the alarm clock.
I didn’t like this per se since Pinko is annoying and fugly and her dead kid is creepy AF, but I like what it led to...
...this reaction.
Honestly, I was kinda torn: on the one hand I thought it was very dickish of Kondou to cheat on Tae-chan like that, but on the other hand, Sayaka is pretty cute and is so sweet to him. At least she doesn’t beat him up everytime she sees him. So, yeah, I felt conflicted. Plus I had a feeling the other shoe will eventually drop since the title pretty much spelled it out.
I actually thought it was Kyuubei at first and I was so happy for like a full second before the reveal.
I was so damn happy that Toujou’s secret love for Kyuu-chan was so blatantly confirmed, but then I really wished he didn’t get a version of Pinko. A version of Sayaka or Momo instead would’ve been so much more worthy of being Kyuubei’s surrogate.
And then when this happened I started to think maybe I should stop shipping TouKyuu because there is no way in hell Kyuubei would put up with Toujou’s weird shit nor do I want her to have to do that.
I WISH someone had made her instead of the other way around.
Omfg asdfghjkl!!!
Oh I was so happy for Pachi-kun but then immediately bummed out since I knew there was no way this would last or that any of it was even real.
SHIPS TALLY:
Shinpachi x Momo: awww, Shinpachi deserves a goddess. I wish he got to keep the goddess.
Kondou x Sayaka: it would have broken my heart if they got their happily ever after ending, but I was also truly happy for Kondou that he got himself a sweet girlfriend...even if she was a VR persona turned into flesh.
Okita x Sayaka: totally not how I expected the KonSaya relationship to end, still kinda shocked Sougo would just steal Kondou’s gf like that, even if she wasn’t exactly “real”.
Gintoki Pintoki x Sacchan: how she could be satisfied with that inferior stand-in for Gintoki, I will never understand. Her glasses obviously were totally useless.
Toujou x Pinbei: since she literally was acting as his nanny, I guess it’s just as well he had her do all the dirty work since Kyuubei would kill him if he ever even tried to ask her to wipe his ass.
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing. It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

(technically it’s 3 am of the 17th but I did read the chap before midnight...I just kinda fell into a short nap before I could post)
I had dinner at Montesacro, a Roman-style pizzeria -- pinseria -- in Brooklyn.
I had Pinsa, a Roman-style pizza, at Montesacro in Brooklyn.
Pinsa: Rome’s ancient flatbread that isn’t quite pizza
Pinsa (most often called Pinsa Romana) has quietly become one of the most interesting bread-to-topping vehicles on the modern pizza scene: an oblong, airy, crackly-crusted flatbread with a tender, digestible crumb and a bright personality that suits both classic and adventurous toppings. Below I’ll walk you through its history, why pinsa is growing in popularity, and give three complete recipes —…
The Italian Deli Co, 1615 E Washington Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91104
The new Italian Deli Co. is more than a deli. It’s an all-day restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, including Italian deli sandwiches, serving fresh pasta, Roman-style pinsa, piadas, piadinas, smoothies, espresso drinks, and desserts. They also sell some imported Italian products like olive oil, cookies, coffee, chocolates, beverages, etc. It’s inspired by the restaurants in NYC’s Little Italy.
If you want a sandwich, order it from the deli counter near the entrance. The deli counter has imported Italian meats and cheeses, as well as antipasti.
The sandwiches are made to order. They slice the meats but not to order.
Italian grinder ($13): prosciutto cotto, sopressata, mortadella, fresh mozzarella, herb vinaigrette, olive oil, pepperoncino spread on a fresh baked roll. It was a good size sandwich, about 9 inches by 3.5 inches. The white roll was soft and chewy. It wasn’t too bready. The ratio of meat to bread was good. The meats were sliced very thinly. I liked the quality of the ingredients and the freshness. I also liked the flavor of the vinaigrette. Very classic Italian. However, the sandwich was too wet (from the shredded lettuce and tomato?).
It’s a large space, with a bar, dining area, retail area, and the deli counter. There are posters of Italian cities on the walls. It feels like a European café.
