Actually, the villies mourning pearl makes for so good angst. Cause they actually took time in a finale of a death game to mourn her. But apart from building a grave and calling it a day they went full on out. They have crescent moons stitched to their clothes as a symbol that they still think about her. They obviously cried for her. Grian calles gem pearl accidentally, gem asks villy, pearls dog, if they miss pearl and says "I miss her" they also hear villy's sad whimpers and immediately are sad about pearl. They have a meeting at night and see the moon and immediately say that it's pearl. Gem sees the new moon and recognizes it as the moon of the night pearl died at. Grian and gem constantly talk about getting revenge for her and not wanting to lose each other too. While talking about her they can somehow pretend that she's still here. This is almost flower husbands 3rd life level of mourning. The recognize pearl in every single thing. I really loved that to be honest.
