so basically regupete, known by many other names (my favorite being black plague), is the ship between regulus black and peter pettigrew. it seems kind of random and i did actually start shipping it as a crack ship but i just think they're so fun together.
i say they're canon because they were both death eaters of the same age at the same time with ties to the same people. obviously, peter was best friends with remus, james, and sirius, and regulus was sirius' brother. i just think it's so silly of them to be little plotting backstabbers together, yk? like they at least made out once in canon, that's just a fact. peter is just irresistible, even to the great regulus black!!!
can you imagine both of them being death eaters running around and torturing and killing people for funsies and being absolute menaces???
i also just think peter is a super shippable character which probably has something to do with the fact that he's rarely shipped with anybody and often pushed off as a character altogether. why not regulus with peter, honestly? they're both sarcastic and not quite enough for what people expected of them and silly little guys that i would like to keep in my pocket forever.
i especially started thinking about it when i looked back at one of my own pieces and realized how in awe of peter regulus was when he first met him and how much peter was showing off and i was like oh there's potential there.
so for my personal headcanons, regulus met peter and was like omigodhe'ssocool and peter is like really good with spells and really kind but also hella sarcastic and witty which reggie loves. not to mention he's gorgeous. regulus is peter's best friend's little nerd brother who's really secretly quite fit and effortlessly amazing at quidditch. i mean come on, everybody knows everybody had a crush on both of them why not each other, huh?? explain that!
don't get me wrong i still fucking adore jegulus, but i also really like regupete and given their canon potential i think they need more attention! in the case of jegulus, i personally think it's hilarious that regulus and peter hooked up once or twice and james was soooo upset and they never let him forget about it. it just. comes up in conversation all the time, and every time james doesn't let go of regulus for like 5 business days (that's part of the reason they do it).
that's my little two cents on regupete/lionrat/plack/black plague!! atp i might have to add a canon-compliant or canon-adjacent regupete story to my list of things i want to write *sigh.* i'm already coming up with ideas, goddammit
