Gerald and Susan Joas These are the kind of people that made our community a wonderful place to live. They worked, raised a family, volunteered in service groups, and gave generously of their time, skills and money to charitable organizations that benefited city residents. They did all this without fanfare or fuss. And when they left us, they gave their favorite organizations one last gift - a bequest to help these organizations continue to pursue their missions long into the future. It was very appropriate that the Monday Volunteers were on hand to receive a check from the estate of Don and Dolores Bichner. Although we've missed Don Bichner's presence at the Heyde Center, today we were humbled to receive a check for the Heyde Center from Don and Dolores' estate - given to us by his three of his four kids. Don Bichner was instrumental in recruiting people and helping to restore the current Heyde Center building to its current beautiful state. He was also instrumental in raising funds and installing the big flagpole in front of the Heyde Center. We receive annual disbursements for the maintenance and upkeep of the flags and flag pole from the Welcome to Chippewa Falls Flag Pole fund he established at the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. Given his love for the restoration and maintenance of the building, currently the money will be kept in the CVCA/Heyde Center's Capital Development Fund to cover emergency building repair needs or essential building upgrades that would be difficult to raise money for in other ways. #heydecenter #gratitude #legacy #plannedgiving #longlastingimpact (at Heyde Center for the Arts/Chippewa Valley Cultural Association) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzIZGGFFvVh/?igshid=wyubm4w1f8mu
