In October 1979, New York City’s Planning Commission approved a special permit for Trump to build a 56-story mixed-use tower on the site of the Bonwit Teller department store on Fifth Avenue.

Trump later wrote in “The Art of the Deal” that in December 1979, a representative of the Metropolitan Museum of Art asked him to donate two 15-foot-tall Art Deco bas-relief sculptures of semi-nude goddesses and a 15-by-25-foot nickel-plated grill from the condemned building’s facade.

A tiny house has turned into a big issue for the Town of Twisp after neighbors complained that the residence is too small.

The house that sparked the complaints is a 288-square-foot dwelling at 403 May St., in a single-family home neighborhood commonly called Painters’ Addition. The issue has prompted the Twisp Planning Commission to consider changes to its zoning code to establish minimum house sizes in different zones of town. A public workshop on proposed zoning code changes is scheduled for Aug. 15.

Complaints about the house and a travel trailer parked next to it have been voiced over the past couple of months by residents in the neighborhood, primarily Mark and Leone Edson, who live across May Street from the house.

In comments made at several Town Council meetings, the Edsons have complained that the small house is incompatible with other, larger houses in the neighborhood, and criticized town officials for permitting the structure. They have also questioned whether the house conforms to town building codes and whether the trailer parked next to the house should be allowed to remain on the property. The Edsons also alleged that the owner was occasionally living in the house without having received an occupancy permit from the town.

Planning Commission Recommends Council Approve For-Sale Townhome Developments 

Santa Clara's Planning Commission recommended that the City Council approve two for-sale townhome developments on Coleman Avenue.

Two for-sale townhome developments could add to the city’s housing stock, chipping away at state housing mandates. At its latest meeting, Aug. 13, the planning commission voted unanimously to recommend that the Santa Clara City Council approve both projects. The Santa Clara Planning Commission took a stand against data centers on March 6, refusing to approve a conditional use permit for 2805 Bowers Avenue. Planning Commission Discusses 2024 Goals - The Silicon Valley Voice

At its most recent meeting, the Santa Clara Planning Commission worked on setting goals and preparing for its meeting with the City Council.

A light agenda for the Planning Commission to start 2024 cleared the way for a deeper discussion about the Commission’s goals and what it would like to relay to the City Council about the future of Santa Clara. Downtown Precise Plan, Zoning Code Amendment Recommended for Approval - The Silicon Valley Voice

Santa Clara's Planning Commission has recommended the Downtown Precise plan for approval, approved the Zoning Code update.

During the Planning Commission’s Oct. 25 meeting, City staff outlined the details of the Downtown Precise plan. The plan was created after dozens of meetings with the Downtown Community Task Force (DCTF). The goal of the plan is to revitalize Santa Clara’s historic downtown. It will offer guidance on future land use, urban design standards and public right of ways.
