I composed this for a friend who is going through a stressful time in his life. The coverart used here is a gift he made for me back in December.

spiked hair appreciation page. ok it was on the same spread as the last (and of course by last i mean next because i made a stupid with my queue) post so it was more like spiked hair appreciation spread. i was also having the biggest art block on this planet at the doodles closest to the bottom so i'm surprised those turned out even mildly acceptable.

Anryms and Teatown

sooooooo some of you were curious and i've actually had this written out for awhile, it just so happens that every time i wanted to type it out, i left the notebook i wrote it out in somewhere far away OTL 

but anywho, i'm very into keeping all my characters very interconnected, especially via this world i've created and Ares is not exempt from this condition. so i'll stick it behind a cut cause it's kinda long ok nvm i can't figure this cut shit out lolol, but it's an idea i've been developing for awhile (well...the Anryms part. the connection is a little newer lol XD) and i hope--especially once i have time to put more up about Ares--it'll help you guys understand him a little more ;)

Anryms

The foundation of Anryms is widely thought of as a myth. Some believe it to be true, but there has never been enough evidence to prove its existence. An undetermined amount of time ago, there existed a city that was driven by perfection; only certain people were allowed to live there and those certain people abided by certain rules to live a perfect life. But soon after its inception, the system that the city functioned by failed and the city ceased to be. It is said that Anryms was founded on the principle that perfection cannot exist and attempting to obtain it is only detrimental to existence. 

The city of Anryms is on the continent of Nae which is in a world that is not unlike this one. As a comparison: if you were to hop on a boat and set sail for anywhere, you wouldn’t be surprised if you ended up here (in short, it could exist in this world but it doesn’t; it’s designed so that you believe it is real. So for example, chain establishments, famous people, TV shows and so on and so forth are all exclusive to Nae. As a more specific example, Starbucks doesn’t exist there. The popular coffee chain is Moonchange.)

The city serves as a gathering point/connection of the majority of my stories (the overall world that ultimately connects them all) and the characters that inhabit it. Many characters interact with others outside of their own stories, allowing for a continuity of events and such (like a car accident that serves as the climax for 4 individual stories while it also indirectly affects 2 other stories.)

Ares’/Anryms’ connection to Teatown

Teatown is connected to Anryms via a dimensional connection (for lack of a better word I suppose)

(just a brief note on Ahn (Ares’ brother): Ahn is referred to what’s knon as a Dream Catcher. He’s capable of traversing through dimensions via this intermediary realm. Dream Catchers patrol this world (in which dreaming occurs) specifically to protect dreamers from nightmares. Nighmares are tangible manifestations of well…nightmares, and they’re very dangerous if they find their way out of the dream realm)

Now, only Dream Catchers can traverse this dimension. Ares is not technically a dream catcher because his powers have manifested a little differently than his brother’s. His plasma corresponds to the dreams that Ahn is able to manipulate (because the dreams are intangible outside of the dream realm and Ares spends the majority of his time in the real realm, the dream material is translated into plasma. Ares is perfectly capable of passing through the dimensions but he’s not yet very good at it. Ahn also doesn’t let him do it by himself either so he doesn’t get much practice. But at the same time, he doesn’t really care; he prefers the real realm any day (mostly because of the time he brought his friend, Amelia, into the realm, lost her there for awhile and since then, she’s never been quite the same.)

The other condition about dream realm is that it “doesn’t exist” (according to the real world). You’re theoretically not supposed to talk about it, mostly to protect the realm so that nothing unnecessary exits or enters.
