Last week of Plastic Free July is coming up and besides the list of things to swap I'm left with new knowledge and awareness. Until you focus your attention on your plastic consumption, you don't even notice that it's everywhere. I knew it will be overwhelming going into this challenge that's why I took the approach of observing and slow changes over jumping into this. I've also done my research and I've git to know the history, production process and all types of plastic.
Mentioned knowledge is shared in previous posts and now it's time for my experiences and tips.
Starting with my private observations:
— most plastic that I use comes from snacks
— it was impossible for me to make plastic free renovations
— I have a lot of plastics common with my family
Next I present to you five main tips to include in your daily life:
— be prepared: have your reusable bag and zero waste kit in purse/car/bag pack, make shopping list, make yourself food to go,
— buy intentional: in bulk, opt for metal/glass/paper packaging, buy only what you truly need
— reuse: “waste isn't a waste until you waste it”
— take care of your stuff
— use up all you have and notice how can you swap plastics when you need to buy new
