Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
saturday!
Someone else opened the gym today, so I got to sleep in a bit. (By that I mean I was up at 7:30, but still.)
Omg I'm getting drinks with platesandweights and her friends tonight. This is a Big Deal, you guys.
Last night Scott and I had a family meeting about using some of our free time on more (monetarily) productive things. I'll keep this vague for now, but we have some fun ideas!
I'm the worst. I just remembered I should have put the pork shoulder I bought in the slow cooker last night, especially since it takes FOREVER.
I did, however, make myself breakfast and pour some coffee, so all is not lost.
Scott got sick on his work trip, and I'm really hoping he feels better today. On Saturdays he's been coming to the gym after I close and we work on cleans, then do a metcon. Awh.
Stupid kilfudd sent me a blueberry cake recipe yesterday, and now I want baked goods even more than usual.Â
I'm finally going climbing on Monday. Scary/fun.
Why does it seem like everyone climbs now? Is this a new ~thing~? Did you guys always love it and I just didn't notice?
Tumblr always makes me jealous on Saturdays because you're all doing fun weekend things. Womp womp.
Scott is the prettier Seligman.
You’re not wrong.
hey remember this
OBSESSING OVER: "Black Mirror." Seriously, I need you guys to watch this. I'm remarkably bad at describing shows/movies/books, so let's rely on Wikipedia: "Black Mirror is a British television anthology series ... (that) shows the dark side of life and technology."Â I don't think it's on Netflix or Hulu, so you'll probably have to turn to more ... nefarious means, but it's worth it. Each episode is its own self-contained story, with different characters and settings. Episode 3, "The Entire History of You," is my favorite so far.
WORKING ON: Actually getting some work done. I'm waking up earlier each day this week in preparation for Monday's 3 a.m. wake-up call (good idea, Shani), and today I was out of bed at 6:15. The only tricky part is my brain wasn't fully functioning for the first hour I was up. A shower could help, but that could also put me back to sleep. The struggle. So real.
ANTICIPATING: More training today. It starts at 4 p.m. and we'll probably be there until about 8. I've got to show my face at my gym's karaoke night at a bar uptown after. I will not sing.
REGRETTING: I haven't read much at all in the last couple weeks. I was on a book tear, and then I got sucked into TV/other means of wasting time. I've got a few books on hold at the library, so here's to getting back on that train.
THINKING ABOUT: Next week! I'm going to Phoenix for my mama's 60th birthday and Jess' bridal shower. I'm in the midst of figuring out how to cook brunch for 15 to 20 people. Cue panic. Celeste, will you bake muffins with me?
READING: Well, we discussed this. But I have "Sweet Tooth" by Ian McEwan and a bunch of finance/budgeting/this-is-how-adults-manage-money books waiting for me.
DRINKING: Water. I had an Americano with coconut milk earlier. A+.
EATING: You've already seen breakfast, so let's talk about last night's dinner. I didn't take a picture because lazy, but maaan. I made lamb kofta and served it over romaine salads with lemon vinaigrette, shredded carrot, marinated mushrooms, grilled and marinated artichoke hearts, chopped dill pickle, olives (for Scott), toasted pine nuts and warm pita on the side.
WISHING: For warmer weather, which won't happen until Phoenix. New York is all wind, cold and snow.
TALKING TO: I just tried to wake up Scott, but he's not having it. "Can I have five sleeps?" Oh, sure.

This is one of my very favorite recipes. I always forget how great it is, then I make it again and angels sing. (I use water instead of chicken broth and chicken thighs instead of legs.) I serve it over plain rice or cauliflower, though, because if I'm going to eat risotto it's going to be the star.
Remind me not to buy spaghetti squash from anywhere other than Trader Joe's. I paid $6 for a smallish one yesterday. Ugh.Â
I'm going to take pictures of all my food today. Am I Shani yet?
Turns out coding Tumblr themes is weird and hard, but I'm finally back to working on mine.
After that, time to build my food blog. Finally, I know.
Elizabeth just reminded me: I need to buy a pull-up bar. I won't practice every day if I don't have one at home, and someone has to beat those crazy Bs.Â
I'm doing two classes at the gym tonight. Strength (it's bench press day) and a conditioning class that is basically CrossFit without the strength portion and little rest.Â
Starting next week I have to be up around 3 a.m. three days a week for my new CrossFit job. Edited to add: my shift starts at 5, and the box is on the other side of town. It'll take me about 45 minutes to get there, though I'm going to give myself an hour until I get comfortable. I also need time to eat/look decent. Hence waking up at 3:15ish.
Important questions: am I going to live? Should I take naps on those days? I shouldn't sleep in very late the other days of the week, right?
