warning: does contain alcohol and mentions of being drunk
There are seven levels of alcohol intoxication. They are as follows:
1. Sobriety. That one should be self explanatory. You are sober. Your friend invited you over and you meet his friends. It’s all fun and games. Sure you drink something but you don’t really feel anything or exhibit any signs of being intoxicated, but something is starting to build.
I wanted to discuss the previous leaders of the White Fang organization in RWBY, their commonalities and their differences.
I’m talking about Ghira Belladonna, Blake’s father, and Sienna Kahn, Adam Taurus’ original mentor. These two had wildly distinct methods of dealing with the oppression their fellow Faunus suffered. Both types had their plusses and minuses, but when pushed to the extreme, proved to be insufficient for solving the problem. As Blake pointed out, there are no simple answers for very complex problems.
(As an aside, I know people think CRWBY dropped the ball on the “racism in a fantasy world” concept, but I don’t think they did any worse of a job than One Piece or Discworld.)
As demonstrated in the Adam Taurus trailer, Ghira tried to solve issues peacefully, but as also shown, this passivism also meant he was unable to truly defend his people, nor were humanity truly motivated to really change how they treated faunus. And because of that, he lost the respect of the White Fang, allowing Sienna and Adam to take over the group and turn it into a terrorist sect. Ghira was effectively pushed out of the White Fang, to the point of being totally ignorant of the White Fang’s role in the Fall of Beacon. If Blake and Sun Wukong hadn’t shown up in Menagerie, it’s unlikely he would have learned anything.
That said, Sienna was not much better in running the White Fang. While she certainly was more hands-on, she made the same mistake about going too far with her chosen method. As I’ve mentioned in a different post, her allowing Adam’s violent tendencies played a huge part in why he turned wrong so quickly, and the same could be said about the White Fang as a whole. The first we hear about the group is their disrupting a peaceful rally, and Sun describes them as a cult, who try to force other faunus to follow them. Sienna makes it clear in her debut that her goal is for humans to fear faunus, and fear retribution for mistreating the species. But, the problem with the threat of force is that it only works when you are able to maintain that force. Not to mention that this violent outlook made it easy for the White Fang to manipulated by even worse groups, such as the Salem Gang.
So, essentially, neither Ghira or Sienna’s methods really did anything to solve the issue. Both versions of the White Fang were failures. So why is it that Ghira lives, and Sienna dies? Well, it’s not a simple answer like “aggression bad, passism good”. If that was true, the assassination attempt would have been foiled by everyone holding hands and signing “Kumbayah”. No, it’s a different sort of simple answer.
And the answer is love.
Whatever flaws Ghira had as a leader, he and his wife Kali were still a comforting presence enough for Blake to go see them, which led to Sun learning about the attack on Haven. And the two of them were able to save the attempt on his life committed by the Albain brothers.
Sienna, on the other hand, had no one. Adam’s rising influence in the White Fang’s ranks was best demonstrated by the Grimm masks worn by the rank and file (I contend that these masks were optional, as Blake never wore one, nor did the Albains). As Adam points out before he kills her, the White Fang already saw him as the High Leader, but Sienna clearly never caught on to what was happening until it was too late. She was literally unable to see eye to eye with her former comrades. You might say that she made the same mistake Ghira did, this happened after she sat herself on a throne, and took herself out of the action. By no longer taking part on raids, she lost the respect of the White Fang.
So, I guess the moral is, stand up for yourself, but don’t go too far, and, as always, “Trust love”.
Maybe it has some Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) ⚠️spoilers⚠️.
Is it just me, or Bakugo is really sitting uncorrectly so that Deku can see? Or is it just because he is a delinquent? Or both?!
It might be just me, but now i am kinda angry at Dabi and Natsuo. I get that their reactions were what you can expect from abused kids, but still. Dabi wanted to kill Shoto to get his father's attention back. Like okay, let's put the obvious fact that enji was abusing them away and just, why? Why would you want to kill a literal little kid for something he can't control. That wouldn't have made your father like you more. So you went on a killing spree because 'daddy issues'. It might be because I've read to much fanfics with them, but I was so sure Touya became a villain to kill his father and to SAVE HIS FAMILY! But no. And then he called Shoto a puppet (or something like that if the leaks got translated correctly)?! It hurts cause Shoto worked so hard to get where he is. Fought his way almost harder than anyone else in his class to became a hero, and show his father what being a hero means. And then he gets called a puppet by his thought to be dead brother. Like fuck you Dabi. And then onto Natsuo... There was some special chapter with the Todoroki family during some holiday, where we got to see them interact more. And Natsuo was thinking about how stupid he was to resent Shoto for taking up so much of their mom's time. And at that time i was like okay well, he was a kid who didn't see what Enji was doing with Shoto, and that Rei was the only one Shoto had as help. But then, chapter 290 leaks came. And confirmed that yes, he knew. Probably better than anyone else cause Touya used to cling to him crying and telling him everything. But instead of treating Shoto the same, and trying to be there for him too, he resented him. 😑
Anyway Dabi is still one of my fav characters I've been just in a bad mood all day and wanted to rant. It's my opinion so pls don't hate but I'm here for your opinion too. 😊
How to Break John Winchester’s Nose: A fangirl’s guide
This was on my main, but I’m moving it here.
- 7:36 PM, May 14, 2020, Pocatello, Idaho -
The road was empty. Nothing moved. Not even a breeze stirred the trees. As she watched, a speck rounded the corner. She narrowed her eyes. That was her mark. Time to go.
The girl was tired, angry, and cold. She had been walking for hours, headed north toward Chubbuck. She had no true destination, just the need to get away. “Go for a walk,” they said. She’d been on more walks in the past couple of months than she had for the past year. She was bored of walks, and just wanted to go home. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t have a home, not really. She was so lost in thought that she did not notice the wind pick up. Dead leaves, grass, and dandelion fluff whipped around her. It was only when a stick hit her arm that she looked up to see the vortex forming around her.
“What the fu-” her words were cut off by a high pitched noise. A second later she was gone, and there was no trace that she had ever been there.
Someone talk to me about Snape and Aunt Petunia.
I feel like they're similar in a lot of ways.
They both resent Harry for much the same reason.
They both care for him in their own way.
They both protect him in their own way.
The way I see it, the difference is in how they leave Harry (that we see). Snape makes sure Harry knows he cared, in a way, and why he cared. Petunia just...sort of leaves.
Part of me likes to think that she really was like Snape--that she cared more than she wanted to admit? I sort of like the idea of her somehow getting the Daily Prophet. Like she arranged it with Dumbledore or Snape or something. So she can keep tabs on Harry after he sends them to safety. To make sure that HE is safe. Because yes, she resents him, but he's still family?
I know this is probably controversial, but I'm curious about your thoughts.
(I'm not look at Petunia or Snape through rose-colored glasses. They're both bullies, and I think they did it for the same reasons in a lot of ways? I find Aunt Petunia to be a much more complicated character than she's given credit for for?)
