...so I have a fic idea and not enough confidence to write it or at least take a stab at it alone but here's the concept:
Johnny's dying. He know's he's dying and accepts it in the end. He says his goodbyes, takes his last breath and wakes up in the lot. He's confused because he's not in pain and all his burn marks are scars, so he goes looking for someone else in the gang to figure out what's going on. He ends up at the DX. Soda is there, he knows instantly it's Soda, but it's not his Soda. He doesn't recognize him. Soda see this kid who's clearly been through shit and goes into protective sibling mode, insisting on dragging Johnny home with to try and help when he gets off work. He doesn't really give Johnny much of a choice so along he goes. By the time they get to the Curtis house, the gang is home from school (minus Darry who's still at work) and none of them recognize Johnny. Again, Johnny knows who they are instantly. He's confused as to why Ace isn't there and is trying very hard not to stare everyone, at the very different version of himself; even though this Dally is staring at him. He ends up slipping out of the house, maybe when Darry gets home and he's arguing with Soda about taking in strays? Claim's he's stepping out to smoke? Anyway, Johnny steps out onto the porch and freezes. Standing there at the gate, staring in shock is Dally. Dally who gave him the knife, Dally who gave him and Pony a place to hide, Dally who pulled him out of the ruins of the burning church, his brother who was at his bedside. Dally who just jumped in front of a train after watching his little brother die.
Not sure how yet but the rest of the gang from the musical somehow ends up crossing into the book/movie verse pre cannon. Maybe they all start falling apart after losing Johnny and Dal... Or maybe there's some weird sci-fi bullshittery going on.
You can't tell me musical!Johnny wouldn't go off on musical!Dally when he finds out he committed. Knowing that, he'd freak the fuck out seeing members of the musical!gang start showing up. Would be worse if Pony was the first one after Dally to appear...
I'm just imagining musical!Two-bit losing his shit because "what do you mean I'm white and ginger? where the fuck is your Ace? why the fuck are Steve and I's ages flipped around?! what do you mean you don't know who Bev, Chet, Brill, and Trip are? WHO THE FUCK IS RANDY ANDERSON?!?!"
But yeah. Anyone want to take a shot at this or help me figure out how the fuck to write this, lemme know!
