Scrolling through art on different platforms and I gotta say something:
Artists who consistently say their art is ‘shit’, deny/snub any and all compliments/support, and basically beg for more by digging their feet in and INSISTING ‘no it’s trash I hate it UwU’ infuriate me and honestly? I just stop talking about their art or unfollow them. Not only is it really unhealthy to your art’s progress, it’s unhealthy for you and anyone involved. Insanely so. I would know, because as a kid, I was like that. I both loved and hated my art, and craved validation. But you cannot condone that kind of behavior.
𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙀𝘼𝘿, use these phrases!
Instead of ‘I hate how it looks’, say ‘I did my best, and I’ll do even better next time!’
Instead of ‘My art really sucks’, say ‘I’m growing and today I took another step.’
Instead of ‘Sorry for making you look at my awful art’, say ‘I know there are mistakes or inconsistencies, but I’m learning!’
I use these phrases myself, and as silly or corny or whatever as it may seem, it really does help. I loosen up, I relax, and you really enjoy drawing when those kinds of thoughts aren’t in your head.
