This is the government forcing companies to gather MORE data about children under the banner of protecting them. ——- THE EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY BACKDOOR Page 90-92, Section 602(b)(3): Educational technology operators can collect children's and teens' personal information WITHOUT parental consent if they have a written agreement with a school. The requirements are minimal: • Limit collection to "educational purposes" • Provide notice to the school • Allow the school to review data The parent is bypassed entirely. The school consents on behalf of the parent. Companies like Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams for Education, and Canvas can collect student data through school agreements without direct parental knowledge or consent. This is a direct pipeline of minor data into commercial systems with no parental involvement. —- THE STATE PREEMPTION RATCHET Page 112-114, Section 704: Federal law preempts conflicting state laws BUT states can pass laws providing "greater protection to minors." This creates a one-way ratchet: • States can always go MORE restrictive • States can never go LESS restrictive • The federal standard becomes the floor • Over time, 50 different state standards will create a compliance nightmare • Large companies with legal teams can navigate this; small platforms cannot This consolidates market power among companies that can afford 50-state compliance teams. —- THE SPY KIDS ACT TIMING TRAP Page 39, Section 234: The SPY Kids Act (market research prohibition) takes effect 90 days after enactment. Every other provision takes effect 1 year after enactment (page 115, Section 706). 90 days is not enough time for any company to restructure its data processing operations. This guarantees immediate non-compliance, creating enforcement targets for the FTC from day one.

Brazil's PetroReconcavo, Eneva in talks for Petrobras' Bahia-Terra cluster

Brazilian energy companies PetroReconcavo SA (RECV3.SA) and Eneva SA (ENEV3.SA) said on Wednesday that the joint binding offer they have placed for state-run oil firm Petrobras' (PETR4.SA) Bahia-Terra cluster was selected to move on to the negotiation stage of such divestment.

Their bid was over $1.4 billion, according to a separate Petrobras securities filing.

PetroReconvaco holds a 60% stake in the offer and would operate the asset if an agreement is reached, while Eneva has the remaining 40%.

The effective deal still depends on Petrobras agreeing to their offer and regulatory approvals, the companies said.

The Democrats’ longterm failure to make a compelling and all-encompassing case against conservatism and the GOP as institutions, rather than making specific cases against specific Republican politicians, is one of the reasons the party is currently in the political wilderness.
