@kingdonmicrofic
day 07 -> fog (495/427) no warnings, blindspot-ish AU
-
Times Square looks oddly abysmal and post-apocalyptic as he shoulders his way out of the bomb squad’s truck, suit heavy and restrictive. Lights flash, cars honk in the distance. A wispy fog settles in the absence of people.
His team approaches, slow and calculated, gazes locked on the peculiarly sized duffle bag on the sidewalk. It doesn’t move, doesn’t look boxy and clunky like other bombs they’ve encountered in the past — granted, if someone’s desperate enough, explosives can look like anything.
Agent Langdon heaves out a low breath, clouding the thick plastic momentarily as he sinks to his knees. Despite the numerous calls, the missions and dangers he’s put himself in, something about this bag feels different. Important. His hands shake when he tears off a glove, teeth sinking into his lower lip, reaching for the zipper.
He expects wires and various hazardous materials, a countdown in stark red numbers, panic, desperation to save as much of the city as he can. And yet, as the contents of the bag slowly reveal themselves, Langdon’s lungs deflate completely.
It’s a woman.
Curled up, skin pale and decorated in the most elaborate ink he’s ever seen. She makes a weak sound of protest and Langdon stumbles back, as if he’d been struck with something electric, and hurries for his weapon.
“Come out with your hands up!” someone calls, words muffled behind him. She struggles, her blonde hair messily braided, brown eyes blinking so slow as she unfurls herself and pales at the sight of everyone staring her down.
She’s completely naked, though the tattoos covering her skin seem oddly dehumanizing, hiding the true details of her. She quivers, trying to cover herself, and tears begin rolling down her cheeks. “Please,” she says weakly, “Please, I don’t know what’s going on.”
As she swivels underneath a combination of flashing displays and the city’s law enforcement flashlights, the world suddenly falls silent. Nothing but the sound of breath and the taste of his pulse. In large letters, beautifully shaded between her shoulderblades, the ink reads FRANK LANGDON FBI.
She doesn’t have a name, doesn’t remember a fucking thing. She’s solely reduced to nothing more than the girl in the bag found in Times Square with the FBI’s most controversial agent’s name tattooed on her body. Smattered all over the news like some kind of five o’clock special.
She trembles through the cataloguing process, winces during interrogation. Hopeless, lost. Searching for something that’s been stolen from her.
Relief washes over her when Langdon intervenes, commandeering the room in his stiff, fitted suit. Even with his hard gaze and tight jaw, there’s something shining in the woman’s wet, doey eyes. Optimism, trust, a flash of recognition, maybe. Though she claims she hasn’t seen him before in her life.
“We’ll figure this out.” he tells her firmly, doubt lingering in his mind.
Her tiny smile sends a wave of something hot roiling through him.
What a shame he’d been so incredibly naive.
Okay so dexter resurrection is lowkey starting to bore me
You can’t have a wedding without the best man. Just isn’t done. Cause you see in the good old days, the best man would stand in, if for some reason, the groom…should die.
Not to be a party pooper, but you really aren’t ready for a relationship.
Go ahead, do it. Am I the only thing you have left to hold on to? You didn’t want to go through with that wedding anyway. Why else would you have gotten so close to me?
What did you think was gonna happen, when an obsessed patient like me breaks out, and you STILL go ahead with the wedding???
If that’s not an invitation, then I don’t know what IS !
Were you just trying to make me jealous? Am I detecting a pattern emerging, hm? A method? To the madness?
You p r a c t i c a l l y pulled that trigger.
Y o u r s e l f .
At least now we can c u t the wedding c a k e .
Wait so is Hierarchy s2 just gonna be like Night Has Come where a kid dies every episode until we get somewhere

“Sometimes I do get disoriented, admittedly— Oni feet are different than human feet and I sometimes slip or lose my balance momentarily. Occasionally after a dream recalling when I had only two arms, I’ll forget about the other pair when I wake up until I accidentally hit something with them. It’s also a pain being taller than I was— I’m still not used to the height, even if it’s been 19 years since I’ve started growing. Either way, I’m not necessarily happy about what’s transpiring. I’m not... Worried, much, anyway. Clouse said he’d be looking into it— which probably means he’s interrogating the Overlord over anything they know at the moment.”
