Pluscarden Abbey Scotland by Derek11 Via Flickr: In a wooded area east of Forres is Pluscarden Abbey, founded as a Valliscaulian priory in 1230. In 1943 the priory was resuscitated when then owner Lord Colum Crichton-Stuart donated it to the Benedictine community of Prinknash. These were Anglican Benedictines who had converted to Catholicism as a community in 1913. For a few years (1951-55) Fr. Bede Griffiths lived here. In 1974 Pluscarden Priory became Pluscarden Abbey.
