Twigs and Hearts is a surreal queer horror audio drama podcast with elements of mystery and found family. We are on our second season, and release episodes the 10th of each month, starting June 2026 with our finale coming out in March 2027. We are looking for both trailer swaps and full episode swaps!

anyone ever dipped into multimedia with their audio drama? we’re about to get into some short stories on our brand new Patreon (not uninspired by New Year’s Day missives by @atypicalartists…) that will bridge the gap between our first and second seasons… curious to know what’s out there in terms of making your audio drama a BIGGER drama experience!
Why you should listen to Parkdale Haunt
Parkdale Haunt is a horror audio drama. Judith's best friend Claire inherits a house from her estranged grandparents, and the pair plan to fix it it and maybe get a home-renovation podcast out of the deal. But Claire is missing. Over the course of their time in the house, she became more and more obsessive, began sleepwalking, and got irrationally angry. Judith and her friend Owen begin the hunt for Claire. It's a haunted house story featuring doomsday cults, possession, and friendship.
Why you should listen in no particular order
Not one but TWO central friendships that are everything to me
Judith. She's such an incredible lead character. She's engaging and funny and determined, a deeply loyal friend and someone who desperately wants her Claire back.
Queer characters without romance as the primary focus!
The truest evil of all: wellness influencers
Excellent usage of found footage elements for horror. Sometimes, they playback a recording a few times, and it's different each time around.
Completed, to my knowledge, with three seasons (30 episodes total)
It's not a comedy, but there are funny moments and times when the characters try to lighten the mood in a way that makes the show work very well tonally
Grim souffle of tragedy
Possession and its implications
A dude who seems so dodgy he must not be human, but he's just like that. He's an entitled prick, and I like him so much.
Cannot emphasize the friendship enough. Platonic I-love-yous out the wazoo.
hey buds, what podcasts had a really bizar episode from the pov of a salmon that was swimming upstream but because of dams and side pools and stuff it couldnt go further and it and all its bretheren died? I know I heard this story but I can't for the life of me figure out what podcast it was on, I've been listening to so much new stuff lately. It might also have been one of the featured guest episode/ad spots idk.
Okay, so I'm listening to Badlands Cola. First of all, it's really good. I was worried by the description that it was just going to be a weird knock off of other popular audio dramas, but it's actually been really interesting, and fairly unique as far as ADs go.
The main premise is that a private detective from The City goes to a small town to investigate this cult leader, and finds some weird stuff. Little bit Night Vale, little bit found footage, but also neither of those things at all. It's very much it's own story and I'm excited to see what happens next.
Also, the main character is NB, and all the rest of the characters are very fun. And, it has Briggon Snow, who has never been in a show I disliked. So there's that. Anyways, if you're looking for a new podcast, there's only seven episodes so far, so now is a great time to jump in!
“Mack” Podcast Recs
I’ve noticed that Mack / Mac has come up as a name in a few podcasts I enjoy, so I thought I would make a rec list for them.
The Hidden People
Mackenna “Mack” Thorne is the main character of this self-aware urban fantasy podcast. The Hidden People has mystery, comedy, action, and magic. I especially enjoy its character development, sibling relationship, and Buffy references.
It also includes the fantastic work of Katharine Seaton on sound design (you will be able to hear her work on Before The Tone as well).
Fun fact: I started listening to The Hidden People one (1) day after naming my main character Mack.
Desert Skies
The Attendant and the Mechanic (aka Mac) run a gas station. A gas station in the afterlife. The Desert Skies Fuel and Service Station in the first sphere of the Astral Plane. The recently deceased can visit to get information, microwavable burritos, fuel in their Buick Skylark (one hell of a car), and anything else that can prepare them for the long road ahead.
A heart-filled comedy, which I highly recommend.
Before The Tone
(I couldn’t leave our podcast out, now could I?)
Mack Northwood is the main character of this psychological horror science fiction podcast. She leaves voicemails for her sister, Daria, as she begins to work at an increasingly suspicious job. Daria never seems to answer her phone. Meanwhile, Mack is being followed.
Currently (1/19/23), only the trailer is out, and the rest of season one is currently in production.
