Day Five- Favorite Relationship(s)

Ikarishipping and ZRingshipping are my only two Pokémon Anime ships.

((....Like, I know they’re both really looked down on by loads of people in the pokeani fandom, but I ship them a lot....))

I never really shipped Pokémon at all until quite recently. I mean, I kind of shipped ikarishipping a little bit I think??? I don’t really remember.... When I was twelve I was in it for the battles between Ash and Paul, but re-watching Diamond and Pearl--- I loved Dawn and Paul’s interactions! (The few there were.) I feel like they have the potential to be a really interesting pair that could probably beat the shit out of me with sass alone. It took me ten years, but I’m officially ikari trash. (I MESSED UP PAUL’S JACKET IN THE THIRD DRAWING NOOO)

And Zringshipping- where do I even begin with this ship? I’ve never shipped Ash with anyone before! I came into Sun and Moon for Gladion’s baby picture and ended up falling in love with Kiawe and then into this ship. Ash and Kiawe are cute as fuck. They have such great chemistry, I love their friendship dynamic. They’re best buds but they also want to push each other to get better and they care about each other. I want them to hug after a battle and tell each other they did a good job.

Please, Pokemon, let them boys hug.

Honestly, is anyone surprised that this is my favorite relationship in the show?

I LOVE Ash and Misty together. Aside from the romantic and shipping aspects, I also just love them together as friends. It’s such a fun, realistic relationship that I’m glad the anime chose to showcase. Ash and Misty are both 10 years old, and 10 year olds don’t always get along. So sometimes they fight, or tease each other. But it’s never done in a hurtful or disrespectful way. They’re just kids, and that’s how kids act sometimes.

But they can get along too. Very well, in fact. They can make each other laugh and they can joke around. A lot of people like to paint the relationship between Ash and Misty as one built solely on animosity or bickering, and that just isn’t true at all. They both really care for one another and value their friendship. It’s wonderful that their relationship consists of multiple layers and has those intricacies where we can appreciate both characters in varying lights.

OH WOW WHAT A SHOCKER

Yeah yeah, I know, but how could it not be? Even though throughout the series they weren’t officially dating, it’s so beyond obvious they admired each other, and in the end, these two lovebirds’ relationship finally became cannon. Ash was so caring and encouraging to Serena, which was new to see since Ash argued with every other companion. They almost never fought, and the one time they did, it wasn’t about some trivial topic. And Serena… well you clearly can’t say she didn’t like Ash.

And now if any hater thinks amourshipping was one-sided, they can take a look at all these quotes that you guys sent in to me! Thank you so much for all your help! I’m really quite proud of this, and I hope you all like it too!

Pokeani Week Day 4: Favorite Rival

It would be bad (and obvious) of me to pick Drew for two of these days, so I gotta go with Harley! 

I really used to dislike Harley when I got back into Pokemon. I didn’t like how he was mean and loud and just weird overall. But now those are the exact reasons I love him! He definitely livens up the anime to say the least. I love his expressions and over-the-top nature (and the emphasis on his butt that kept coming up in the anime? lmao I pay tribute to it here...).

And maybe I root for him more often than I should...but his level of pettiness and bitterness is almost to be admired lol

Just don’t tell him he’s only my second favorite because he’ll kill me.

Pokeani week day 1: favorite saga

The strongest mega evolution, acts I - IV

Yes, I know, I kinda cheated. I didn’t choose 4 special episodes over the actual sagas because I don’t like them (the sagas, I mean) - but because I can’t choose which one I like more than the others. Meanwhile, getting to know Alain, Mairin, Chespie, Charizard (and Bébé) was the final “straw” that officially made me like this series as much as I do these days. The characters were great, 3-dimensional (particularly in Alain’s case), relatable, etc, and I was (very) fascinated by Alain and Mairin’s friendship as they were like a night and day, both being able to learn something from the other. Not just that, the 4 episodes included some awesome looking battles, legendaries, Steven Stone, and Giant Rock, and they explained Alain’s backstory before he joined the main series. The story also became notably darker than usual pokeani episodes, which was also a plus in my eyes. I just like everything about these episodes, and definitely think that everyone who likes this anime should see them.
