So my original Magikarp rod puppets were all the size of the little golden boi here, until I realised it takes the same amount of effort (and less pain) to make them bigger! So my current generation of Magikarp are much larger! This was a fun set of photos just to show the size different between the original set and my current gen. I'm a bit sad because I can't buy the ready made domes I used for the mini fish in the size to fit the big karp, but ah well. Ain't they adorable?

For a good beginning, a rookie Trainer.

This is the Generation I version of the female player character, now retroactively known as “Leaf”. She never made it to the game, but existed as a concept and served as a model for the Pokemon Special manga character Green (Blue in Japan).

This illustration comes from “Pokemon Craft” origami series (circa 1998?). The manga illustrations for it were drawn by Emiko Yoshino, but she made a good job at nailing Sugimori’s style here.
