name: fen papilionem day
age: 17
gender: female
appearance: long, light brown, curly hair. round face. dark brown eyes. soft lips, soft nose. soft angled, natural brows. wears one makeup product (eyebrow gel). freckles. 5’3., has a great fashion sense that results in her pushing the boundaries with the “dress code” she’s meant to follow. wears a bracelet that ollie also has: a small, braided, dark green bracelet. they made them on their 13th birthday. wears pearl stud earrings that her mother tried to discard because they were her wedding earrings. fen’s mom still hates the fact that she wears them. tends to have headphones in via her walkman.
background: fen’s mom gave birth to her and her twin brother at the age of twenty-one. fen lived a relatively simple life, although she was missing a father. not to worry, her aunt madeline stepped in to help. it was at a very young age when fen noticed that moms and dads were a thing, so she got curious and asked her aunt. her aunt explained it simply: “you just have a mom and an aunt, instead of a mom and a dad.” this was enough for fen. but her aunt had to put in another word, “don’t ask your mom about your dad, okay, sweetie? come to me.” it seemed suspicious, but fen followed the rules of her household.
in the ninth grade, a presentation was given at fen’s school by middle-aged men with grumpy faces and white suits. fen was told that her, her brother, and everyone else in their class would start taking a new form of state tests four times a year. at the end of each quarter. it made fen very uneasy, as these men did not look friendly, at all. therefore, she asked the teachers questions once the men left, but all the teachers told her not to worry, it was just “state testing.” something still felt off to fen, but she also wasn’t one to cause a scene. there was no reason to break rules at school, either.
later on, these men came back to the school, after the first round of testing. nobody got the “reward” they were speaking of. the reward was to go to a better place after a few, short tests. what fen got from this was, you’d take a state test, to get to more tests, to finally get to the reward. it all sounded fuzzy to her, but the tests went on and she never got the “reward” so it wasn’t on her mind... all the time.
fen’s life went back to being simple once she shut out her curiosity, until her sophomore year. fen decided to go on a walk with some friends who lived in her apartment complex. the seemingly-innocent day, turned into a day of mass murder and fen witnessed a shooting first hand. the shooters were the opposite of those... mean looking men... she met in ninth grade. they wore black masks with no face, as well as black clothes. suddenly the men in white were a lot more... appealing. gentle. nice.
therefore, when she was questioned by them because she was a first-hand witness to the shooting, she opened up. the nobles, as they called themselves, also known as the people in white. fen’s suspicions went away when she realized she was simply looking at them in a manner that was too judging. she’d seen what evil looked like, and it was not the nobles. it was the shooters in all black.
now, fen is a senior in high school and, although she is still living with trauma, her life is back to simplicity again. but it doesn’t stay that way for long. life in primor will never be simple.

excerpt: “The dull glow of the sun woke Fen up in quick succession. She opened her eyes, and then closed them tight, pulling a quilt lined with felt over her head. Fen was not a morning person. There were two things that made the morning worth it, though: coffee and whatever kind of breakfast Aunt Madeline was cooking up.
When Fen realized her ultimate fate was going to be hoisting herself from her true place of warmth and comfort, she complied and sat up. Fen rubbed her eyes with the palms of her perfectly manicured hands. Then, she took a moment to breathe in the clean air with a deep breath. Fen’s room was stuffed to the brim with air-cleansing plants that Aunt Madeline had raised from seedlings. Any surface in Fen’s room inhabited a plant, and there were even some hanging down from her ceiling. Aunt Madeline stressed the plants were very important. In Fen’s youth, she never understood why, but she respected her aunt’s wishes and she took care of the plants to the best of her ability...”
