Super Mario Land Enemies

Name: Pompon Flower
Debut: Super Mario Land
Look at this prancing plant! This frolicking flower! This bouncing bloom! This is simply the happiest plant I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of smiling cartoon plants! Anyone can fake a smile though. You have to look out for the body language. And Pompon Flower is no doubt dancing for joy!
What’s it so happy about? Why, releasing poisonous spores, of course! Why else? Real world plants that produce spores, such as ferns and mosses, don’t actually have flowers at all. Pompon Flower is a botanical marvel! Dancing isn’t actually strange for plants. At least, not in my idealized dream world where plants can dance.
Or maybe it’s just pollen! That would make sense as a projectile to come from a flower. And maybe it’s not poisonous, but Mario is just kind of allergic. Like me! Once when I was little, I didn’t know I was allergic, so I stuffed a football full of pollen and threw it up and down to make the pollen rain down majestically. And look at me now! Writing about a pretend dancing flower on the internet!
Pompon Flower (Super Mario Land)
I must say, the pose the Pompon Flower is able to make with its 'legs' makes it look a bit stylish while it's attacking (if you even understand what I'm saying).
