Elio is taking a bath
Nelson *rushes into the bathroom*: Elio I need your help.
Elio: WTF?! Can you please no?
*he tries to cover his body with foam*
*it fails*
Nelson *takes a quick glance at him*: Ohhh
Elio *sprays him wet*: what do you want? And turn the fuck around!
Nelson: So it's like this
Elio: You're in love with Alain?
Nelson at the same time: I'm in love with Alain, I know this is very unexpected.
Elio *hands his head* growls: it's been clear for two- three-- 'how long have you known alain'-years
Renè *comes in*: Ah, hello Nelson.
Elio: Can you... Hello?
Nelson and Renè in chorus: lock your door.
Nelson *sits down on the toilet*: I don't want to be in love..
Renè *points at Nelson and looks at Elio*: Has he admitted to himself that he likes Alain?
Elio just nods
Nelson: How... Huh?
Nelson: Well, in any case, I just want to be with him, but I also not.. I dont understand my...
*he is interrupted by the door opening again*.
Gilles and Didier come in kissing and giggling.
Gilles: Oh I thought because the door is open, it's free... Hey Renè!
Nelson looks from Didier to Gilles and back again
Elio does a wet manoeuvre.
Nelson rushes out of the door and starts screaming.
Renè: Everyone knows what's going on between you, why is Nelson shouting like that?
Niki: I heard shouting what happened?
What kind of party is this? *has to start laughing*
Elio completely unnerved: I just wanted to take a bath...
All together again: Lock the door.
Niki: What did Nelson mean about Gilles and Didier sleeping together, I thought that was common knowledge.
Renè: Well, he's a bit stupid and inattentive.
*tries to disappear subtly*
Didier: Wait, why were you here?
Elio: I would like to know that from all of you.
Niki *patterns Renè*: well I know but I think...
Gilles *checks it*: Oh my god... Renè saw Nelson and went after him and looks at him funny... Renè has a crush on Nelson...
Renè: No why should I... Yeah well fuck off. *goes*
Elio: Can you throw me a towel please?
Didier hands him one.
Elio: turn around or leave.
Gilles opens the door and Nigel is standing in front of it.
Didier, Gilles and Niki: Ohhh Well we'll leave you to it then. *wink*
Gilles *turn around*: Please lock the door *giggles*
This scene isn’t given the love it deserves, but thanks to dec.happiness, we have post-Oliver-leaving Elio in all his heartbroken and dishevelled glory. Such a short sad scene, but Timothee’s acting tells us everything.
Can we cease the wank for a moment to appreciate the only comment on Armie's play post that matters? Looooool 👍👍👍
Hi there! Just stumbled across your blog tonight and I've spent a couple of hours going through your posts and loving each analysis and reblogs about 'Call Me By Your Name'. I'm curious though, I'd like to hear your thoughts about the scene after Elio and Oliver sleeps together for the first time. Why Elio pulls away from Oliver in confusion and self-doubt after spending the night so close and intimately together?
Ooh, now, I think there are a few things going on here. The book makes this much clearer than the film, with this line as well as several others- “It was not him I hated- but the thing we’d done. I didn’t want him looking into my heart just yet. Instead, I wanted to remove myself from this bog of self-loathing and didn’t know how to do it”.
(Did you want this to be long? Because it’s going to be long… In fact I will cut it here- more below )

“So, you’ve decided to throw away a promising career in chirurgery or theology to chase the life of an entertainer. There are tales of trauma doing far worse than giving a man delusions of a life as a wandering fortune teller.” Lebeaux Desrosiers smiled, dragging his best facsimile of a ‘sympathetic’ expression out of storage and dusting it off for use here. “That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t attend your performance.”
Elio Bonfils frowns. "I'm not an entert-tainer. I'm a truth-teller', he says, firming his expression a bit. "A-and I tell the truth to all, h-high and low. My c-cousin at least appreciates my c-c-council." He shakes his head again. "If I had continued with t-theology I wouldn't have been able t-to tell the truth."
“I see, and did you ask him about the ‘truth’ I suggested to you?” Lebeaux mused thoughtfully, tucking away that sympathetic smile for whenever it would next be needed. His own arms folded across his chest. “That he had taken you on for the sake of taking care of you during your troubled times? What did he have to say about that…”
Elio swallows. "I- " He lowers his gaze. "I did not ask him. I wouldn't ... I wouldn't need to." It clearly troubled him, though.
Call me by Your Name’s ending in the novel version is way different than the film version, or rather, there’s a bit of story left out from the movie at the end. I’m even more emotionally exhausted and depressed from the novel’s ending
Welp, Call me by Your Name left me numb and depressed
