Oh Hamburg! What a pleasant surprise this trip turned out to be.
Why Hamburg? Well my best friend lives there so I’ve always wanted to visit since the day she moved. I figured the best time to visit Germany would have to be during the holidays. Christmas markets GALORE!
But boy oh boy did I get more than I even hoped for! My homegirl Jah happened to work right on the Reeperbahn! What the fuck is the Reeperbahn you make ask? Wellll the Reeperbahn is “a street and entertainment district in Hamburg's St. Pauli district, one of the two centres of Hamburg's nightlife and also the city's major red-light district.” In other words. It was fucking lit.
The Christmas market out there was nothing like the others on the street. Due to its close proximity to the red light district it was a freak nasty Christmas market.
From strippers to vagina cookies to dicks on Christmas trees. Borderline blasphemous but isn’t Christmas a pagen holiday anyway? Lol I was in bliss!
I tried pretzels and of course a German sausage and allllll the gluhwein* I could consume. I tried some incredible vegan places and even got to see my best friend perform at her show Tina! It was a blast. Definitely the best way to cap off my 2019.
