Okay, imma tell y'all a story
These two fucking ducks. A friend found them on opposite sides of an abandoned barn, and brought them to school (this was late February 2020, shortly before lockdown) We thought they were the weirdest things, but when we were examining them, we smacked them against each other and at the same moment, my headphones broke. It was wild. I ended up taking the one home with me, where it now sits in the back of my closet. This is the only picture of the 2 of them together we have.
Are they weird enough to be an SCP?
Mütter Minute: Michelle Doll
In today’s adventures of cursed objects, meet Michelle - the mannequin created by Dr. Chevalier Jackson, to demonstrate techniques for removing swallowed objects.
Restoring an antique cloth doll might be outside of the museum’s usual work, but this short clip does reveal some interesting things. Clearly not the work of a doll-maker, yet it seems to have yarn hair. Quick yarn hair is often a sewn row of yarn to make a “part” for pigtails, but this has a crocheted net-structure as a foundation for hair. It’s effectively a wig cap, though sewn to the head.
Did the back of the head need to be visible for demonstrations? (Eg, if it allowed you to see how the tool went down the throat.) Was that yarn hair just worn away, maybe came off as a separate piece? How much of the piece will be conserved, and what parts will be restored? Did this doll ever have facial features, aside from a mouth?
This video is under 2 minutes, and I’m just awash with questions. If it weren’t for Mr. Hicks here “animating” this doll in his short clip, I probably wouldn’t be as curious as I am. So thanks and sarcastic-thanks. Please don’t haunt my dreams later, ma’am.
No, I’d rather not.
