Thursday Bangers 7/2 or 7/3
I was tagged by @serensama in Thursday Bangers. I needed something to distract myself this morning so have some post Inquisition/Veilguard Era Hawke/Fenris
He'd been searching for years for a way to get Hawke back. He refused to accept that his crazy, reckless, beloved Garrett was gone. He'd even worked with Anders and Merrill to try and find Hawke in the Fade, but everything they'd tried had failed.
Years passed and he still searched. Eventually he ended up in Rivain with Isabela and her Lords of Fortune. He never gave up the ghost of hope that he'd one day get Hawke back, he couldn't.
A decade after Hawke had been left in the Fade, he met Rook.
Fenris met the big qunari Warden when he came to fight in the Hall of Valor with Taash. While Taash and Harding were drinking at the Hilt afterwards, Rook sought Fenris out. Varric had told Rook about Hawke in their time traveling together, and Rook wondered if there might be some chance Hawke might still be alive in the Fade.
Fenris tried not to let his hope kindle too much.
He should hate it, all the magic involved, but this was Hawke, and the truth was Fenris was willing to burn everything down if it meant getting Hawke back.
The day they pulled Garrett from a Fade tear in Arlathan, after extensive work by the Nevarran professor, the Dalish mage (Merrill would have liked her), and Rook's Tevine detective, Fenris was willing to admit, for once, magic might have a good use.
He held his trembling Garrett in his arms as the man clung to him like he was afraid Fenris would disappear.
And finally, the world was right again.
