“Eight large sheets form a translucent and irregular skin-like sculpture that hangs from the ceiling. The frailty of these thin objects, which bend under their own weight as they graze the floor, is characteristic of much of the artist’s work, which acknowledges the role of tragedy in her life.” - The Art Museum, Phaidon

Petre Inspirescu - Vintul Prin Salcii
Modern Classical? Ambient? Experimental? Post-Minimal? Downtempo? It depends on the context. All these words and more could be used to describe the new album from Petre Inspirescu. Vîntul Prin Salcii roughly translates as the Wind In The Willows (Can any Romanian speakers improve this translation?). The wind is import. You can hear it in every one of these tracks. Each is named Miroslav (1-7). Wind instruments, synths and other electronic devices are used to produce the beautiful music found on the album. Backwards synths, a feeling of weightlessness and tender/uplifting melodies characterise Vîntul Prin Salcii. The space between sounds is important too, just as it was for Petre’s Minimal Techno work. The album is a real grower, which provides more rewards with each listen. Standouts are the slow moving yet gorgeous Miroslav 3 and Miroslav 4, a thrilling string driven escapade. This album is a fantastic exploration of the modern Ambient/Classical/Experimental/Post-Minimal realm (depending on which word is currently most trendy).
