Arrived yesterday, but this is the first chance I've had to really get into it. It still has that lovely "just printed" smell, one of the best smells in the world. That heavy ink smell. Even the page quality is very nice. Smooth, but not stiff. And they're soft! Some pages you really worry you might get a papercut on, but these are really nice and turn easily.

I already listened to the audiobook some months back, but I just had to have it again in print, because I love owning books in print, and I also love owning physical things of serieses I enjoy. I won't spoil anything for those who haven't experienced it in either format yet (and be it the voice acting in the audiobook or the illustrations in this version, both have strong appeal to offer either experience), but I deeply enjoyed it. Several parts brought a tear to my eye--from laughter or otherwise. Super looking forward to more in the future, hopefully~ @jelloapocalypse

Hero Aca volume 37 also arrived in the same order (fig. lower left), but that's not important right now~

Got an order in early because flippin’ nothin’ coming out in September, and we’re eating good for comics tonight~

The only frustrating parts was being like "Oh, I'll grab those Animorphs graphic novels off my wishlist", completing the order an having everything set--only to then find out the fifth one came out, like, the same day I made the order. I woulda included it if it had bothered to tell me. Oh well, a purchase for future Tai.

I can't wait to have the full series adapted by 2073 (2081 if we're including Chronicles and Megamorphs--which they should)~

Ah, it’s time for the birthday loot again~

Continuing the trend of a Birdo birthday, a lovely plush from @pembrokewkorgi joins the haul this year (among some other things). Additionally, we have Batman: Odyssey, by the recently deceased Neal Adams, one of the all-time so-bad-it’s-good Batman books. Been wanting to read this one in full since Linkara started doing it issue by issue a few years back. On the other side of the classic scale, we have some actual genuine horror classics from Universal, the pop-culture codifiers of these long-running Hollywood monsters. Big looking forward to checking those out too~

And a batch of letter magnets! Speaking of horror tropes, one of my favourite dumb tropes is when the ghosts or demons or whatever rearrange the fridge magnets to spell out ominous or threatening things. As shown in the second pic, why not do it myself every once in a while~?

And that’s two more shelves I’ve now filled with books. I am, in fact, out of places to put shelves, let alone books~

On the left, we have Goosebumps on top, then Stephen King and other horror-adjacent titles. Just to fill some space, Harry Potter and Eragon take up this shelf, so they don’t have to touch any of the other books. The shelf under that is what I term “assorted”. Most of them are still pretty good, though. And the bottom is all my strategy guides.

The right-hand shelf is filled mostly with my childhood nostalgia. You got Animorphs filling the first row and a half. This is then followed by Bruce Coville and Louis Sachar, two other authors that really fed into my childhood. Third shelf is Lemony Snicket and the Bunnicula series, along with those Girl Genius novels. The fourth then has some Equestria Girls books and other MLP writings, the Help! I’m Trapped series, and does anyone remember Alex Mack? And down on the bottom shelf are some Star Wars books written in Shakespearian English, the books I’ve reviewed for the Taiblog, a His Dark Materials compilation volume, and the non-comic Dilbert books.

There’s still, like, three other boxes of books I don’t have shelf space for. These were the ones I figured were most worth shelving for now. And yes, even Harry Potter. Say what you will about those--and there is a lot to say--at the very least they do look good on a shelf. Saves me the trouble of figuring out which of these leftover summer reading books to shelve~

And that’s the complaint: I could’ve heaped Harry somewhere else if it didn’t seem like a bunch of my books disappeared when we moved. Where’s all my Gordon Korman novels? Where’s the Professor Childermass series? Why do I have two copies of Jurassic Park, but not more James Howe books~? It is a mystery, and it’s a good thing my birthday’s coming up~

And speaking of childhood things, please admire my Ghostbusters HQ sandwiched lovingly between the shelves~

Ah, it’s birthday loot time again~

You might recall that I also got Spider-Verse, like, two years ago. Yeah, I dunno what happened to it. We moved, I could no longer find it. Anyway, that film is too good to keep out of my collection, so I’m glad to get it again. New Mutants was also a film I enjoyed~

One more volume closer to Gold Digger completion, which I expect to never achieve. Some of those used volume prices are ridiculous~

And of course, my favourite emoji, now in pillow form too, so to speak. I admit, I added this to my list after playing a lot of Winkydink levels in Going Under. If I could find neon lighting of that logo to hang up, I would! But until then, the pillow will do~

More shelves! The first is a free-standing shelf that’s actually atop the oddly-shaped comics’ shelves. I thought it’d be a nice place for my art books and other similar works, even moving the World of Disgaea books from my desk shelf to up here~

Speaking of desk shelves, my desk has another shelf on the underneath of it, and I opted to put all my D&D books there (except for Drow of the Underdark, which I put up with my bestiaries and such). Seemed like a good place to keep them mostly out of the way, since they’re mostly 4e books~

Well, I finally shelved all my manga. And now you know why it took two months~
