How do I stop quick driver updater from interrupting my games when I’m playing?

Can’t believe I forgot to say I got “Asterix and Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir”.
I pirated it and I’m not too ashamed to admit this because... it doesn’t even work properly on any of the 3 computers with Windows OSs we have.
My most used PC is a desktop with Win 7 64-bit. It’s 12 years old but we try to keep it up-to-date so I can do stuff on it. This, of course, was the first PC I tried to play the game on. However, everything that’s 3D - locations, characters, bonuses - doesn’t appear. During the starting cutscene I could only see a single-colored screen and waterfalls. In the pre-gameplay cutscene and during gameplay everything besides the interface and dust left by moving characters is black (or grey, depending on graphic settings). There’s no lighting or shading either so I can only see in which direction I’m going. GeForce Experience doesn’t recognize the game. I updated the graphic driver, downloaded latest Visual C++ files, tried changing the renderer via EngineSettings.ini, used someone else’s EngineSettings.ini - it was all pointless, no improvement at all.
I tried it on a laptop, also with Win 7 64-bit. Same shit, and it lags.
I had a different but still negative experience with a tablet PC which has Win 10. No problems with 3D graphics at all, I can see everything, it’s pretty, BUT... the game lags so much I just can’t !#$*ing play it. The framerate is around 1 FPS. Seriously. To make matters worse, the devs didn’t add a manual save feature, which means I couldn’t even really change the graphic settings because the game reset them after restart. We’re now begging for manual saving on The XXL Arena Discord as there are 2 OSome members there.
Now I wonder where the problem lies: within Win 7, or my PC (but this would mean there’s something wrong with the laptop as well)...
I started a second save file because I wasn’t making any more progress in the first one (probably due to being slow, making bad decisions, not being able to find resources, having no transport, yadda yadda), and in this one while running around the floating island I fell through the ground. Twice.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I swam about 2 km away from my capsule (in the direction opposite from Aurora), met a ghost leviathan, swam directly up (that I jumped out of the water a bit) and this blue motherfucker jumped with me, pushed me and I flew into another part of the ocean! What an experience!
