potential character list for a future project
Art dump for some toon ocs I might use if I actually make that ask blog
I have way too many if these guys so might as well use em xpfir something xD
Starting with who I'm likely gonna use as my main character, shieldon the shield!
Both kids show and teen show versions, (i like to headcannon that shieldon sounds like moomin but starts sounding like moominpapa when he gets older cause funny)
also the twisted <3 likely gonna be altered if i have a corrupted/warped shieldon
I still have yet to draw the rubber hose version, but ey I'll get there eventually xD I think for the ask blog I'm primarily gonna be focusing on teen shieldon
Rubber hose shieldon is an adult knight who's mostly used as a heroic protagonist in his cartoon, a classic good guy for those watching to look up too, but fairly flat compared to future versions
Kids show shieldon was a complete reboot, turning the character into an 11 year old boy obsessed with proving himself and helping his friends, though if you look too deep into his character he's probably not ok- he was often left unattended, and was neglected by his caretakers, leading him to seek out others and neglect himself, he's absolutely obsessed with fantasy, often resorting to escapism, and has a very over active imagination
Teen show shieldon is only a soft reboot, supposed to be the same character after a time skip, he's in his later teens, about 16, and is going through high-school, he's anxious and still getting over his childhood people pleasing issues, he's still obsessed with knights and is absolutely obsessed with dnd, dming for a small group, he's also been diagnosed with autism and schizophrenia
Next character who I only have the kids show art for rn, dabloon!
Dabloon has always been a bit of an antagonist during the entire run of the series,
Rubber hose dabloon was an adult and a classic pirate character, and the main enemy to shieldon, acting as the pure bad to balance shieldons pure good, the two often ending up in comedic fights and chases, always ending in dabloons demise, arrest, or escape
Kids show dabloon was given a bit more depth, a 13 yer old pirate obsessed bully who craved any attention he could get, positive or negative, primarily because he was neglected at home, oddly enough not too different from shieldon, though he never realized it, he was still the main antagonist, shieldon being his primary target, dabloon would often cause problems on hid own, or function as the lackey to another character, Christie, who we will look at later
Teens show dabloon was around 17, and actually calmed down a lot, actually function more as a friend to shieldon, though not a good one, often getting the two of them in trouble, or needing shieldon to bail him out of trouble, dabloon is still obsessed with pirates, even still talking in the fake pirate accent and still using a wooden prosthetic
sense we mentioned the lacky, here's the mastermind, Christie the crystal ball!
(Sorry for image quality, christie refused to upload normally, truely evil.) (Also, his voice ckaim is king andrias from amphibia)
Christie in the rubber hose version of the show was an evil wizard who often employed dabloon to carry out his dirty work, also functioning as a two dimensional evil for shieldon to defeat, though he was actually pretty crafty with his plans thanks to his potions and his future sight
Kids show Christie was an angsty 17 year old, mostly just wanting to cause trouble and watch the fallout, not wanting to deal with the consequences, he bribed dabloon to do his dirty work for him, functioning as a toxic older sibling figure to the coin, Christie's main gimmicks were magic potions that caused the main conflict if the episode, and minor future sight/person sight that allowed him to pick his targets
Teen show Christie was a 21 year old, not actually showing up in the plot aside from working a few odd jobs in the background or being a player in shieldons dnd game episodes, aside from those, he wasn't really relevant anymore
next up, wren the wrench!
wren is still kinda a work in progress, she's a handyman type character, often helping in mechanical problems and repair situations
Wren had no rubber hose counterpart, having been introduced in the kids show
Kids show wren was one of the few adult characters at around 26 years old, often being someone the kids could go to for help after messing up, and also helping repair shieldons prosthetic leg or crutches when needed, she was very friendly twords the younger toons, though she wouldn't put up with any nonsense, often being the one to put dabloon in time out, she also tended to have a firey temper when too many buttons were pushed
Teen show wren, now being arounc 30, was one of the teachers in the school shieldon and dabloon went too, still holding her original helpful role, though now in a different way, likely she thought some sort of computer class (still figuring that out)
for our lesser seen characters, we have annie the ant!
Annie is the strong woman of a circus troupe, a play on ants being able to lift more than 50% of their own weight,
During the rubber hose era Annie wasn't any type of ant in particular, and didn't show up much even in circus themed episodes
Kids show Annie was around 28, and she had a bit more depth, being made into specifically a leaf cutter ant, the strongest type of ant there is, and was primarily used to educate viewers about ants, and still retaining her strong woman role, unlike other characters who gained voices during the reboot, Annie remained mute, instead explicitly communicating via smell/pheromones, and sign language, Annie was characterized as stoic and strong yet friendly, and was another character the kids could go to for help when needed.
teen show Annie was 32, and was the sign language teacher at the school shieldon and dabloon went to, though she also still occasionally worked at the circus, Annie was patient with her students, willing to give extra help when needed
our holiday soecific character, Jack O lantern! (Also jokingly calked jack "ominous" lantern)
Jack was one of the more powerful cartoon characters, primarily cause he only showed up one month out of an entire year, and a halloween special needs good stakes! (I like to think he sounds like score creeper from unikitty :3)
Jack did not exist in the rubber hose era, halloween episodes were formerly Christie's job
Kids show jack was purely an antagonist, his age was unknown, he only appeared during October, his episodes primarily consisting if him capturing several characters to participate in his games and haunted house attractions, though he never intended to cause any real farm, and woukd genuinely panic when anyone was harmed, after hus games were done, those targeted would get candy, jacks abilities consisted of summoning fire, making himself 1 foot taller, and summoning a portal to his realm where he had full reign
Dyring the teen show jack was no longer as common of a holiday character, appearing once in a dnd brought to life episode, and primarily just appearing in 3 or 4 more specials after that
sting is the classic anti social scary at first chill water type character,
Sting did not exist in the rubber hose era
Kids show sting was a new character to the show, an aloof 17 year old primarily being used as a don't judge others type character, and a way to educate about sea life, sting is a long spine sea urchin, not liking physical touch or people standing too close due to her venomous spines, which can make thise who touch her sick, sting didn't talk much, and was sarcastic in most interactions, she wasn't evil or hateful, she just didn't like bothering with people
Teen show sting, now 21, barely ever showed up, aside from popping up in the background or working odd jobs similar to Christie
And finally, Lucky the hoarse shoe bandit!
lucky was a very self absorbed character, and didn't really care for others, he was popular with fans though
Rubber hose era lucky was a gun slinging bandit for shieldon to fight in more wild west themed episodes, known for never missing a shot and everything always seeming to bend in his favor, making him increadibly hard to defeat
During the kids show era lucky was deemed unfit for the series, same for the teens show
Though, thanks to his popularity, he was given an adult show spinoff as it's protagonist soon after the rubber hose series ended and before the kids show began
Lucky's spinoff kept a lot of the old rubber hose esthetics, as well as turning to a purely wild west theme, lucky himself being the lovable outlaw every lady in the bar swoons for, though there were a lot of accusations that he seemed to also be very flirty with other male characters,
that's everybody I got for now, Sorry for rambling, I really wanna use sone of these guts again xD I still gotta figure out who's corrupted and who isn't, plus the general vibes I wanna go with, but I got some ideas!
