I will no longer be writing. It brings little to no interest to me anymore, if I do write anything it will be posted on AO3, I will still be around on Tumblr, but will no longer be posting.
It's been a good few years writing on this site for you guys, I appreciate all the support I have been given on here and love you all, but life is crazy and I have no time for it anymore.
I dont know how many of my followers are into Stray Kids but I got to see them on Thursday and it was a literal dream come true seeing these boys perform š„°š„°š„°
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
Your remaining time in Rhode Island went by quicker than expected, heading to the bus stop and saying goodbye to everyone as you went hurt a bit since in the short amount of time you had been there, they had become like a second family to you and you would miss them like crazy, but you knew you had to go back to reality at some point.
When you finally returned home several hours later, you brought yourself to the apartment you had found, planning on grabbing your things from Lenaās place after your guys talk that was happening in a few days, your apartment was a simple studio apartment, it being empty aside from the kitchen and bathroom furniture so you knew youād be sleeping on the floor for a few nights which was fine, you did say you needed a fresh start.
Setting your bags down, you sighed as you looked around the small space available to you, trying to think of what your priority was to get first, a bed obviously but also groceries were a top priority as well, getting interrupted by your thoughts when your phone rang, pulling it from your pocket and freezing when you saw it was Alex, taking a deep breath to steel yourself before you answered the phone.
āAlex? Hey, what can I do for you?ā You answered, cringing at how awkward you sounded, but you knew there had to be a reason that she was calling you out of the blue like this after ghosting you for so long āKaraās calmed down some⦠She uh⦠She told me everythingā Alex said, sounding just as awkward as you did since she hated admitting that she was wrong about something.
āOh? Howās she doing? I tried to call the hospital but they never had any updates for meā You said, starting to pace some in the small space you called your living room āSheās okay, the drug that was injected into her gave her some bizarre powers, but sheās slowly learning to control themā Alex said, biting her lip before she spoke again āLook, Iām sorry for ghosting you⦠I blamed this whole thing on you and- well it wasnāt right of me to do thatā she admitted, causing you to raise your brows in shock since she was not one to admit she was wrong so easily.
Once you recovered, you smiled slightly āNo, you had every right to be upset with me⦠I was the one that unintentionally dragged Kara into the situation and I feel so guilty about what happened-ā taking a deep breath ā-Do you think you guys could ever forgive me? I miss my best friendsā you admitted softly, biting your lip and fidgeting with a loose string on your shirt āCan we meet in person?ā Alex asked to which you quickly agreed, the two of you meeting at the diner in twenty minutes.
When you arrived at the diner, you awkwardly stood in a corner until Alex arrived, her hair looking a little longer since the last time you had seen her, watching with butterflies in your stomach as she approached you, the two of you staring at one another for a long moment, you unsure what the right move was before you were suddenly engulfed in her arms, letting out a relieved sob before you gripped her in a tight hug, the two of you breaking down in the corner of the diner but neither of you cared.
Finally pulling back, you wiped your eyes before you gave her a small smile āYour hair looks good, I like itā you complimented, smiling a bit more when she let out a chuckle before she thanked you and led you to a table, the two of you falling into a comfortable silence while you both looked through the menu even though you both knew what you were getting already āIām sorryā you both blurted out at the same time, causing you both to laugh before you set your menu down.
āIām sorry for not trying to talk to you sooner⦠And for running off like I didā You said, messing with your fingers as you tried to keep eye contact with her āNo, Iām sorry for ghosting you and not trying to reach out⦠I feel like we both need each other right now, I shouldnāt of dropped you so fast without talking firstā Alex apologized, knowing that she nearly destroyed your guys friendship without thinking before doing just like you felt āFriends again?ā You asked, timidly holding your non mechanical hand out to her which she took āAlwaysā.
The two of you spent over an hour at the diner just catching up and talking, you admitting to her and yourself that you were going to find a therapist, your self destructive behavior not helping anyone and you knew you couldnāt do it on your own āHave you talked to Lena?ā Alex asked, tapping her fingers on her coffee mug āYeah, she wants to talk in person⦠Unfortunately I have a lot of making up to do, so I donāt see us getting back together for a whileā you said, although you were prepared for it and you wanted to do right by her and try to be the person that she deserved.
When you got back home to your lonely apartment, having made sure to stop by the store to get some groceries for the week and some blankets to use as a bed for the time being, you sighed as you settled down on your little blanket makeshift bed with the single pillow and pulled your knees to your chest, you were starting from square one and that scared you, but you knew that in the end it would help you heal and become the person that everyone in your life deserves.
Getting as comfortable as possible on your blankets, you plugged your phone into the charger and sighed as you rested your head on the pillow, trying to decide what to tell Lena tomorrow when you saw her at the coffee shop, you owed her a major apology and you owed her an explanation, but you knew that the ball was in her court on your relationship, your future could change forever with this conversation.
Trump isn't guaranteed to win this year's presidential election because he's been shot at. In 2020, Trump supporters voted in heavy numbers, but guess what? They still lost because we outvoted them.Ā
Do I want to vote for Biden? No, but I will since no third-party candidate has a winning chance, and I don't want Trump to be president again. Unless y'all are gonna overthrow the American political system and government, we need to vote.
It's normal to be terrified about this presidential election, but don't allow it to stop you from voting and trying to stop that orange fucker from returning to office.
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
You forgot how much you missed some of your old life until Lara showed up, these past few days were some of the best times youāve had in a while, probably since before the whole ordeal happened āThank you⦠For coming hereā You thanked Lara, wanting her to know how much you appreciated her showing up like she did, smiling when she bumped her shoulder into yours āOf course, I know youād do the sameā she smiled, looking at you as the two of you sat on a beach towel.
āWhen do you think youāre going to come back?ā Lara asked after a few moments, which got you thinking since you hadnāt really planned a day to come back and at the moment you had nowhere to stay since you and Lena had broken up āI donāt know, I have to find somewhere to stay first off and thatāll take some timeā you said, resting your chin on your knee that you had pulled up to your chest.
Lara sighed as she thought, trying to think of what she could do to help, she couldnāt offer her place since it was a studio so it wouldnāt offer much space for either of you āI mean, I think my apartment complex is looking for people to rent out, I could reach out to my landlord and put in a good word for yaā she suggested, knowing it wasnāt much but itās something that she could do for you.
āThat would help a lot⦠Iāll probably aim to come back in a week or two, gives me time to try to get a place and if nothing else I can move back home until I get somethingā You said, knowing that your mom would let you move back in a heartbeat if you truly needed to āI hope to get back to school in the Spring timeā you said, you having taken summer and fall off to try and recover from everything.
āI want to try to see Kara if I can, I feel so bad about what happenedā you admitted, knowing it wasnāt 100% your fault but you still had a part in it no matter how small of a part it was āHey, donāt beat yourself up on that, we were all playedā Lara said, knowing she felt guilty for it as well but she knew she couldnāt let it eat her alive.
You sighed as you looked back out at the water āI know, but the guilt will always be there⦠She trusted me and now sheās dealing with whatever it is that sheās dealing withā you said, staring for a small moment before you sighed and pushed yourself up, dusting yourself off āCome on, lets go get you some food before your bus arrivesā.
xxxxx
Standing at the bus stop, you waiting with Lara for her bus to arrive āI wish you werenāt leaving yetā¦ā you admitted, looking at her and resting your head on her shoulder when she slung an arm over your shoulders āI know, but I only got ahead so much on my research and the real world is awaiting me⦠But! Weāll see each other soon when you get backā she assured, giving you a small squeeze, easing some of your nerves as you stood there.
āI know, I canāt decide if I want it to come fast or notā you said, looking at her and knowing you wanted to go back to real life but at the same time you loved this place too but you knew you couldnāt stay here forever, Lara opening her mouth to say something when you guys heard the bus rumbling towards you āWeāll see each other soon, I promiseā Lara assured, turning to give you a tight, proper hug as the bus pulled up, the two of you saying your goodbyes before she grabbed her things and climbed onto the bus, leaving you standing in the small group of strangers who had just said goodbye to their friends or family.

The next morning, you woke up with a heavy heart as you realized you were alone in the room once more, that just confirming your want to go home so you grabbed your laptop and typed in āapartments for rent in National Cityā so you could get started on your applications and finding something to move into when you do move back home.
After around two hours, your stomach grumbled, interrupting your train of thought as you pursued your third application for the day, sighing as you finished what you could before closing your laptop and setting it to the side āGuess itās time for breakfastā you muttered to yourself as you stood up and stretched, feeling your stiff back crack several times before you grabbed your wallet and your phone, noticing there was a message on your phone waiting for you.
When you get the time, I would like to talk to you - Lena
When you read the message, your heart thundered in your chest, you werenāt sure if this would be a good talk or a bad talk but you knew you wanted to get it over with either way so you tapped out a response as quick as you could.
Iām available now if youād like - You
Not two minutes after you sent that message, your phone started vibrating in your hand, Lenaās picture flashing on your screen, taking a deep breath before you answered āHeyā you breathed, feeling extreme nerves course through you as you waited for her response āHiā Lena said, you unable to tell her mood by her tone of voice.
āYou wanted to talk?ā You asked, forcing you to take a seat at the uncomfortable chair in your room and your leg bouncing as you sat there āYeah⦠I wanted to apologize for how I ended our last conversation⦠I was upset and angryā She apologized, you hearing a pen tapping on a wooden surface on the other end āYou are completely valid for feeling that way, what I did was wrong and Iām so sorry, I know I could never truly make it up to you but Iām going to spend my life trying anywaysā you said, knowing you truly fucked up.
You heard a small chuckle before Lena spoke āYouāre not wrong, I really miss you but Iām scared to accept you backā she said, biting her lip and you hearing her chair squeak as she leaned back against it āI donāt expect you to accept me back right away, but I would love to have another chance if youāll let meā you said, feeling some hope as this conversation went on āI think we need to have a face to face conversation before I agree to thatā she said truthfully, okay fair you thought to yourself.
āIāll be back in a week or two, Iām looking for a place to live then Iām coming backā You promised, checking the time on the clock on the wall āI⦠Yeah, I can wait that longā Lena said, having to stop herself from asking you to come back home, your guys home, but it wasnāt that anymore, not right now āI have to go, class starts in a few minutes⦠Text me?ā She asked, hope rising in her voice as you smiled slightly āOf courseā.
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
The day Lara arrived came faster than you expected, mostly since you tried to keep yourself busy so you didnāt let it all get to your head, even going as far as taking up Issacās offer on surfing lessons and as much as you hated to admit it, you actually enjoyed it, not like youād ever tell Issac that, he already had a big enough head.
Waiting anxiously by the bus stop that Lara told you she would arrive at, nervous about seeing your friend again, her being the only one besides your mother who would talk to you, Alex blamed you for what happened to Kara so she needed time to cool off and time away, Kara was of course locked away in a major medical facility so it wasnāt like anyone could even talk to her, then there was Alexās girlfriend who had been your best friend since you started at the diner, but even Maggie wasnāt even talking to you, seeming to just try to keep the peace by following Alexās lead, it hurt but you knew that every action has consequences.
You forced yourself to perk up when Laraās bus pulled up, bouncing on your toes as you waited for her to get off, looking at her with a nervous smile when she was finally standing in front of you, not wanting to make the first move since you werenāt sure where you two stood āCome hereā she said, setting the bag in her hand down by her feet before engulfing you in a hug.
āGod I missed youā Lara breathed out, giving you a tight squeeze before she pulled back, gently grasping your shoulders as she looked you over, seeming to try to convince herself that you were right in front of her again āI was so worried when you wouldnāt respond to me, but Iām glad your okayā she said sincerely, giving your shoulders a squeeze before grabbing her bag āI know, Iām sorryā you apologized.
Lara held up her hand when you apologized, shaking her head āMake it up to me by showing where Iām stayingā she said, earning a laugh from you as you gave her a grin āRight this way, maāamā you said, gesturing in the direction youād be walking in and her falling into step with you when you started walking, the two of you catching up the whole way to the inn that you were staying it, you finding it easier for her to just stay with you rather than fight to get a room of her own.
āSo this is the famous Lara Croftā Sammy commented when you two approached the front counter āThatās meā Lara said, embarrassed as she rubbed the back of her neck āY/N has told me a lot about you, theyāve been excited for you to join them hereā Sammy said, making up a roomkey for her when Lara handed over her I.D. āI hope all good thingsā Lara said, glancing at you as you felt your cheeks begin to burn āAll good thingsā you rushed out before Sammy could tease you any further.
Once the two of you got to your room, you let Lara get settled in a little bit before you started prodding her with questions like how your mom was and how classes were going for her before finally getting to the question you were desperate to know the answer to āHowās Lena?ā You asked, looking at her and almost afraid of the answer āSheās okay, we donāt really talk anymore, when you guys broke it off she focused more on her professor friends that she had before meeting you⦠She seems to be trying to move on with her lifeā Lara said, knowing that the answer more than likely wasnāt what you wanted to hear but she wasnāt going to sugarcoat it or lie to you.
āOhā¦ā you said, glad that she was able to start moving on from this, but you couldnāt help the pain you felt, you wanted to be the one that was making her happy but that wasnāt your job anymore and you had to understand that āIām glad sheās doing good⦠Howās Kara and Alex? Any update?ā You asked, having heard nothing with them since Alex cut you off āNot much update on Kara, Alex and I were never close to begin with, but last I heard she was in and out of solitude, whatever happened to her itās wreaking havoc on her bodyā she answered, no one really knowing what had gotten into her body and knowing that the doctors were trying to get to the bottom of it.
Once the two of you caught up some, you decided to take her out to dinner at the restaurant that you seemed to be addicted with āHarbor Grill and Orchid Lounge?ā Lara asked as you guys walked to the front entrance āHey, donāt knock it till you try itā you said, chuckling as you held the door open for her, the two of you getting a seat after a few minute wait since tonight was a busy night āSo, what do you usually get?ā Lara asked, scouring over the menu after you two sat down.
āThe Chicken Al Pastorā you answered, leaning back in your seat as you looked over your menu but you already knew you wouldnāt stray far from your go to āSo⦠Are you still doing research?ā You asked after a moment of silence āTrying, but Iāve learned my lesson on being picky about who I go with⦠After last timeā¦ā Lara said, the two of you shuddering at the thought of the last research she was involved with āI get itā you said, reaching over and resting a hand on her arm to tell her that she didnāt have to go any further.
Once the two of you finished eating(and Lara admitting that the restaurant was in fact a good choice) you both went to take a walk on the beach, the sun starting to set as you two got there āIf you want, my friend Issac convinced me finally to do surfing lessons with him, Iām sure he wouldnāt mind another person to try to impressā you mentioned, watching her smile and nod āThat sounds great, better than the gym or a labā Lara chuckled, stopping for a moment to watch as the sun started to set across the ocean.
āYou know, I forgot what this is likeā Lara said, looking at you after a moment āWhat? The sunset?ā You asked, confused on what she was meaning and raising a brow when she let out a laugh and shook her head āNo no, but youāre not wrong⦠I mean that if you let yourself get outside and do things out of the lab that you get to witness all these pretty things and your stress and worries just seem to melt awayā she said, smiling as she stared at the water and you couldnāt help but smile in return, she was right, all your time stuck in your head and in your books, you never really took the time to see the pretty things that were right in front of you this entire time.
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
You spent the rest of the day trying to process what Lena had told you, you shouldāve expected it, you knew your action would come with consequences but you didnāt think that she would actually do it, there was no taking it back now but you knew that you would do your best to try to get her back, or at the very least show her how apologetic you were.
āThere you areā Issac said, going and sitting down next to you in the sand, you hadnāt even realized you had walked to the beach, having been so lost in thought āYou found meā you said softly, pulling your knees up to your chest and resting your chin on them, watching as the water moved with the wind āWhatās wrong?ā Issac asked, lightly nudging your shoulder with his.
Letting out a sigh, you looked at him, resting your cheek on your knee āMy girlfriend broke up with me⦠Itās my fault thoughā you admitted, knowing that you were the one to blame āIs it because you came here with no notice?ā He guessed, knowing that if he was in Lenaās shoes heād probably feel the same way but he wasnāt going to rub that in your face, not yet anyways when the wound was still fresh.
āYepā you said simply, turning your head back to the sea and thinking for a long moment āWas I wrong to leave?ā You asked, wanting to know if you had made the wrong choice of coming here cause all it seems to do was hurt the people you loved, messing with a strap from your prosthetic near your shoulder āNo, the way you did it maybe, but having to separate yourself from somewhere isnāt a wrong choiceā he said, digging his toes in the sand.
After a moment of silence, Issac looked at you āYou know, when I first moved out here my mom didnāt approve at all, she claimed that I was abandoning the family in a time of need⦠There was no need except the fact she needed me as a babysitter for my younger siblings⦠but I came here anyways and honestly, it was the best decision I ever made, no matter how long you plan to stay here know that it wasnāt a wrong choiceā he assured, nudging you once more and giving you a small smile.
āCome on, Sammy sent me to find you cause sheās making dinner and invited the two of usā Issac finally said after a few minutes, standing up and dusting the sand off his pants before offering you a hand which you stared at before sighing and taking it, the two of you heading back towards the town that was slowly becoming a second home to you.
xxxxx
A few days later, you had decided to try to reach out to Lena, mostly to offer an olive branch, although you werenāt overly hopeful that she would respond back
Hey, I just wanted to reach out and apologize for my behavior, I donāt expect you to forgive me or even speak to me, but what I did was not one of my proudest moments⦠I hope that youāre doing okay and that the school year is starting off smoothly - you
You stared at the phone for a long moment, almost like you were expecting it to ping right then and there before you let out a sigh and pocketed your phone, heading out of your room before heading out into the town, today was your first appointment with the town doctor, it had taken you a bit to get all your things together so you could actually go and see him.
Once you got there, you got yourself signed in before taking a seat in one of the uncomfortable seats in the waiting room, aimlessly scrolling through your phone until they called your name, following the nurse to the back and going through the normal routine before she told you the doctor would be in here shortly.
You felt your phone vibrate in your pocket, but before you could pull it out the doctor walked in, looking over your chart āMx. Y/L/N?ā The doctor asked, looking at you and offering you a smile when you nodded āSo, youāre in to see how your arm is doing? Mind if we take the prosthetic off?ā He asked, taking a seat in the rolling chair and introducing himself as Dr. Amerez as you took it off.
āAlright, lets seeā he murmured, chuckling slightly when you jumped at his cold touch āApologies, doctors have cold handsā he apologized, gently poking and prodding to see if there was any reaction āEverything looks good, howās the arm treating you?ā He asked, letting you put it back on āFine, but I struggle with grabbing some things, I canāt tell if itās because Iām not focusing or somethingās wrong with the armā you explained, securing your arm back.
Dr. Ameres hummed as he pushed himself towards the computer in the room āWell, we could get you set up in PT, I think that will help a lot and theyāll be able to tell you more than I could on the subject, Iāll send forward a referral and you should hear something soonā he assured, looking at you with a relaxed smile.
āThank youā you said, nodding your head slightly before shaking your head when he asked if there was anything you needed, telling you that you can check out and should hear something in the next week about PT, you thanked him again before you followed him back up to the front desk.
Once you were out, you quickly pulled your phone out, desperately hoping that it was Lena but you scolded yourself for getting your hopes up when you saw it was Laura
Hey! Iām gonna be there in a few days! I figured you might want a friend right now - Laura
Lena tell you? - You
Yeah⦠Iām sorry - Laura
Itās fine, send me your flight stuff and Iāll meet you at the airport - You
You sighed as you pocketed your phone again, knowing that since Lena was telling people then that meant it was truly official, you knew it was but this confirmation just made it hurt more.
Imagine a conversation with your comfort character(C.C.):
Y/N: "I can't, I can't do it anymore, I give up, I'm done"
C.C.: "You're done? Are you out of your mind?! Look how far we've come! Look at everything falling into place. You're done?"
Y/N: "You don't understand-"
C.C.: "-No, you don't understand! You don't understand what you're made of, stop looking at the scars you've obtained and listen to the still beating heart inside you, you're done, youāve only just begun"
Y/N: "I'm tired-"
C.C.: "-Then you will rest-"
Y/N(crying): "-It hurts!-"
C.C.: "-Then you will heal! You're the only one that can stand in your way and I won't let you. Now rest, eat, cry, break something! Whatever you gotta do to pull yourself together! I'll wait, you come find me when you're ready... come find me when you're ready to go"
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
Before you knew it, a week had passed and you were slowly becoming more comfortable with the town that you were staying at, making some friends with some of the locals, there was of course Sammy at the Inn but there was also Issac at the Surf Shop who has been trying to get you to join him on some lessons with the surf boards, stating āItāll help you be able to do PT for yourself AND help give you something fun to do hereā Ā you would be lying to yourself if you said that you werenāt tempted to do it, there was also Sean who owned Blvck Market who was always kind to you but you mostly spoke with one of his workers, Benny, who was trying their damnedest to get you to buy the ring you had been eyeing for Lena, but you always hesitated, especially after what you just did, you figured that she would want nothing to do with you.
Heading out of the Inn, making sure to wave to Sammy on your way out, you finally turned your phone back on after having left it off since you turned it off the first day here, knowing you had to say something to try to ease your friends and family, heading across the way to the cafe, you were greeted by Hana, her giving you her usual smile āUsual?ā She asked, this place having become one of your daily stops so you had quickly become a regular āPleaseā you smiled before going and claiming your usual spot in the corner, taking a deep breath before you finally hit the call button.
You listened as the phone rang once, twice sheās not going to- you heard your mothers voice finally fill your ears āY/N! Oh my god, donāt you ever do that again, I was worried sick about you, Lena is worried sick about you!ā She scolded, hearing the relief in her words but you still winced since while you deserved the scolding, it still didnāt feel good āI know⦠Iām sorry, I just⦠I needed some spaceā you apologized, biting your lip and giving Hana a small smile when she set your drink and chocolate scone in front of you.
āWhere are you? Are you safe? Do I need to come get you?ā She asked, shooting off the questions faster than you had the chance to answer which made you chuckle slightly āIām in Rhode Island⦠Iām safe⦠And no, you donāt have to come get me, Iām actually feeling quite at ease hereā you said, leaning back slightly as you tapped your finger on the table in front of you āIs Lena okay?ā Biting your lip as you asked the one question thatās been gnawing at you this entire time.
You heard your mother let out a sigh āSheās upset and worried, sheās been drowning herself in her work when sheās not trying to look for you or reach out to youā she told you, knowing it probably wasnāt the news that you wanted to hear but it was all the information she had to give you, Lena was even ignoring her calls with how much she buried herself in her work.
It didnāt make you feel better hearing that, but you were glad to know that she was still around either way, knowing that she was going to be your next call, that was going to be a rough phone call so you changed topics with your mom, assuring her that you were doing okay here and that you would be back in a few weeks, promising her that you would see a doctor while you were here to help make sure everything was going well with your stump before you both said your goodbyes.
By the time you finally got the courage to call Lena, you had already finished your coffee and half of your scone, it feeling like a pit in your stomach as you hit the call button, the phone barely ringing before Lena picked up, sounding frantic āY/N?ā She asked, making your heart pang in your chest āHiā¦ā you answered, wincing once more when she let out a harsh laugh of disbelief āYou run away and ghost me for a week and all you have to say to me is āhiā?ā She asked, all the anger finally bubbling up.
āI know⦠Iām sorry and I know thatās not going to fix what I did, I needed space and I shouldāve just talked to you instead of just up and leaving, everything was getting to me, it was suffocating me and I just needed to get away and I thought me giving you space would let you actually be able to live-ā āY/N,-ā she interrupted ā-like you just said you couldāve talked to me⦠Weāre a team, I wouldāve given you what you needed, I have plenty to do to get ready for the school year, why did you just leave? Was it me? Did I do something?ā She asked, that having been nagging her since the day you left.
You quickly shook your head before you remembered that she couldnāt see you āNo, baby no⦠It was nothing you did, it was all me and I am so sorry for worrying youā you stated, feeling your heart clench at the thought of her thinking that it was because of her that you had left āI promise that we can now talk everyday, Iām feeling better and I miss youā you admitted, biting your lip at the silence you got in return āI miss you too, butā¦ā oh no, not the dreaded but āI need time, I donāt want to just take you back and you just leave again⦠Weāve been through too much for you to not trust me with something like this, I know Iāll always love you but I donāt know if we can go back to being an āusā, I canāt take this heartache anymoreā.
You sat on the line, that dreaded beep having hit your ear several minutes ago as you sat there and processed what had just happened, you and Lena were no more⦠And it was all your fault.
1. "You know you're my best friend, right? Unrequited love with Natasha
You got it, boo! :)
"You know you're my best friend, right?"
Natasha has been your best friend almost since you first came to the team(her trust issues were rough to work through), but you couldn't help but feel a little more than just friendship when it came to her, you didn't want to potentially ruin your friendship with her in any way so you kept it to yourself.
When she started slowly falling for Bucky, you felt your heart break, but there was always that small part of you that thought that maybe just maybe she felt the same way towards you, but still you kept it to yourself.
Currently you were sitting on her bed as she dug through her closet, trying to choose what to wear for this date that Bucky had asked her to, feeling a small amount of jealousy bubble since you wanted to be Bucky "What do you think of this one?" Natasha asked, interrupting your thoughts as she held up a deep red, thigh length dress to her front.
"Just like the five other dresses you've shown me, it looks great... Honestly, you'd look great in a trash bag" You admitted, mentally beating yourself up for saying that as she let out a chuckle "I don't think Bucky would appreciate that" she teased as she set the dress on her bed beside you before resting her hands on your shoulders and smiling at you.
"You know you're my best friend, right?" She asked, not aware of how much that hurt you to hear but she wanted you to know that you were her best friend "I know, now go get dressed, don't want Bucky to wonder where you are" You teased halfheartedly.
Watching the love of your life get ready for a date with another person nearly killed you, but as you watched her grin at Bucky before they headed out the door of the compound made you steel yourself, she was happy... And... Well, that's what you wanted... Right?
Hi, I sent in an MJ platonic request did it come through ok?
Hey there! To be honest this was the first ask that I got actually notified in my notifs in a hot ass minute, but it brought me to my inbox and I saw your other one, sorry I didn't see it before! My Tumblr has been super dumb lately, but consider it added to my list!
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
You tried to get yourself better, going to all your PT sessions and even trying out Therapy, but as the days progressed, the more it felt like you were spiraling and you couldnāt keep waking Lena up with your nightmares, you could tell the lack of sleep was affecting her and her getting ready for school to start back up next month, after talking with your Therapist, you both agreed getting away would be the best option, although the way you were going to do it probably wasnāt the best idea.
One night, you waited for Lena to fall into a deep sleep, carefully pulling yourself away from her hold and going to grab the bag you had stashed away in the closet, throwing some clothes on and putting your prosthetic on as quietly as possible, you having gotten a bit better at doing so the more you practiced, grabbing the note you had already written for Lena out of your nightstand and placing it on hers āI promise Iāll be backā you whispered, placing a gentle kiss to her temple before slipping out of your shared apartment and into the dark night.

A few hours later, you found yourself on a bus to Rhode Island, you just randomly decided the other night to go there since you wanted to get away, but not too far away from your home, looking at your phone which had no messages, you having turned your location off so no one could find you until you were ready to be found again, you just⦠You needed time, without disrupting other peoples lives as you did so.
Once 9am hit, thatās when the messages from Lena started flooding in, you opting to turn your phone off for the time being since you couldnāt bring yourself to talk to her yet, you knew you had flooded her with worry by not finding you at home but you didnāt think she wouldāve understood that you needed time to yourself.

Soon enough, you found yourself in what would be your new home for the next few weeks, New Shoreham, thanking the bus driver as you headed off and looked around the quiet town around you before heading off towards the closest hotel you could find, Old Town Inn.
Upon walking in, you noticed the quaint common room with a nice atmosphere with a fireplace and a few couches around it before you turned and approached the counter āHello dear, how can I help you?ā The nice lady behind the counter asked, looking down and seeing her nametag āSammyā āHi⦠I wanted to see about staying here for a few weeks?ā You asked, offering her a small smile āOf course, lets get you all setā Sammy said, typing something into her computer.
Once you were paid and given your room key, you stopped for a moment before you asked Sammy āWhat all is nice to do here? I kind of came here on a whimā rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly as you looked at her āOh thereās plenty to do here, thereās a nature trail not far from here, a few beaches, some lighthouses, thereās also a farm down the road, and thereās plenty of spots to eat here, if you need a recommendation before going out, let me know!ā she smiled, watching as you returned the smile before you thanked her and headed for your room.
When you got to your room, you let out a sigh as you set your bag down in the chair before you sat at the end of the bed, dropping your head into your good hand and letting yourself process what you had just done, you were basically a runaway at this point, the only thing that would ease at least a bit of Lenaās worries was leaving that note, but all that said really was that you were going away for a few weeks and that you needed time and space to process everything and that you were sorry for all the rude awakenings in the past few weeks due to your nightmares.
After a bit, you forced yourself back up and organized all your items, actually using the dresser drawers for once before setting your bathroom items in the bathroom, letting out a satisfied sigh once you accomplished that before you grabbed the things you needed like your wallet and your phone that was still off, putting your roomkey in your wallet before you headed out.
Stopping long enough to ask Sammy where the beach was before you started on your way, taking in all the sites on your way there, sure it was a small town but it was a nice change from the bustling city that was National City, there seemed to be a lot of history and a lot of āeveryone knows everyoneā around the town, feeling a bit on edge as people glanced in your direction with curious looks.
Once you arrived at the beach, you took a deep breath of the sea air before you headed for a rocky area and claimed the most comfortable looking rock, pulling your knees up to your chest and resting your chin on your knees as you stared out at the ever expanding sea in front of you, letting yourself enjoy the silence before you relented and pulled your phone out of your pocket, turning it on.
When your phone finally processed that it was fully turned on, the messages and missed calls from Lena, your mother, and Laura came flooding in, all asking where you were and how they were worried about about you, but you couldnāt bring yourself to respond, not yet, so for the time being you placed your phone on Do Not Disturb before you pulled out your camera app and took a picture of the view in front of you, the sun was going down at the perfect angle over the water and you just had to capture its beauty before you headed back to your hotel for the night, trying to decide what to say to your friends and family about your sudden vanishing act.
