A (very) small snapshot of the day Nero joined The Order.
The day he joined The Order’s ranks, she couldn’t help but feel a little swell of pride in her chest.
Despite their obvious attempts to make it difficult for him, he had worked hard and, with Credo’s help; he had stood proudly beside him in his uniform. It didn’t match his style at all, and he was uncomfortable as all hell in it, but he posed for the picture Maya took all the same.
They had just returned from the ceremony, and they needed to stop by the church first before they could go back home. The picture she currently took was in front of the library, making a perfect backdrop for the two.
“Congratulations, Nero!” Kyrie had said, making the poor boy blush three shades of red when she hugged him. They had been dating for a year now and he still got so easily flustered around her.
“T-thanks, Kyrie.”
“Now that you’re a part of our ranks, no slacking off now,” Credo said with a good-natured clap on his shoulders.
“Yeah, yeah…” he huffed. “Thanks again for getting the modifications for Red Queen go through. It couldn’t have been easy, so…”
“Though it isn’t customary, I can understand the appeal of a personal touch. The gun, on the other hand...”
“I know, I know, but if it helps hunt down those demons, what does it matter? Plus, mom and me worked hard on the design!”
“Don’t remind me. You’re so picky with designs, Nero.” Maya said, making him shrug.
“Hey, I’m planning on using it for a long time! It's gotta be perfect, and it is!”
“At least your flattering skills have gotten better…”
“Hey!”
“There you all are!” the three turned to Selene and Arali walked up to them, a proud smile on their lips as Selen brought Nero into a tight hug. Nero laughed, returning the embrace and rubbing his nose when he stepped away with a thanks. “Don’t let them get rid of that rebellious side of yours!”
“J-jeez, not you too!”
“But that’s what makes you, you, Nero!” Arali said next, much to his embarrassment.
“Mom, help me out here!”
“I don’t know, Nero… I remember those nights you snuck out when you thought I was asleep…”
She had never seen Kyrie or Nero turn such a bright shade of red before.
