For 50 years, this bizarre act was one of the Atlantic City's biggest attractions.
She wore blue.
She wore blue powder all over her face. I knew it was a powder, but from the way she carried herself and how calm and cool she acted with that stuff on—I didn't know what to call it. She had one of those black handbags hanging off her shoulder.
It looked like a messenger bag at first glance; it could've held two or three notebooks and some pencils for all I knew. But then again, maybe there were knives in there too? Something sharp enough to cut through bone... or whatever part of the body would hold them up. The kind they used to make out-of-body experiences back in the '60's and early-'70's when everyone got interested in spiritualism after Marilyn Monroe died. I don't think she'd have needed anything like that though: I saw plenty of men get their heads chopped off without any help from outside sources.
"You're going to give me your money," said this girl about my age (though looking far younger) "And you are going to go away."
