Lets talk beams
Not just any old beams either -- specifically beams found across the ‘ Metroid ‘ series. Across all of ‘ Metroid ‘ lore, every weapon excluding the Missile launcher ( and it’s variations ) are in some form, that of beam biased weaponry. Thought this probably needn’t be stated, as the name each beam has “ beam “ plastered in it. But just what is “ Beams “? In ‘ Metroid ‘, Beams are weaponized energy. In short the bright yellow ‘ balls ‘ that the arm canon expels is energy that the ancient race known as “ Chozo “ created and capitalized on. As far as my knowledge goes, there’s not to much surrounding the lore of this energy aside from it being the weakest, but generally fastest fire rate weapon in her arsenal. This is shown at the very start of the plethora of Metroid games, as it is her ‘ default ‘ weapon. Following this, the standard beam alone, despite being stated to be a recent development failed against Mother Brain’s shielding -- yet a vastly older weapon utilized by Gray Voice pierced through with no issue. This isn’t the first time recent Chozo tech was shown to be inferior to older either. The Base power suit during the events of ‘ Metroid: Zero Mission ‘ was powered up by an older version of the suit. ( And to further this, the regular power suit couldn’t read even some old power ups of Chozo origin. ) Yet such a weapon proves to be more then enough for clearing out rooms filled to the brim with weaker foes and some tougher supernatural beings ( The Chozo Ghosts in Prime 1 ) due to it’s unusual energy composition. You see, the Chozo Ghosts are quite literally the spirits driven made due to the influence of Phazon. Going off this, they are immune to all other forms of attacks not deprived from the Power Beam. This suggests that the Power Beam composition is unnatural, capable of damaging those who have immunity to normal energy combat, Who knew this beam was so special, right?
The Arm canon, and by extension the Power Beam is modular thus yielding “ powered up “ states such as the “ Charge Beam “ And in ‘ Metroid Prime ‘ the Super-missile charge beam combo.
For those who wish to see it in action. gif was too big to upload. :(

Meta Ridley: A first time for everything
So I was playing Metroid Prime today. I finished up gathering the final Chozo Artifacts I needed and headed towards the Artifact Temple. I put in all the artifacts in their respective places and the magic Chozo crud starts doing its thing, when suddently Meta Ridley comes swooping down interrupting my plans!
Well as arch rivals go, naturally we begin going 'mano a mano' (or Power Beam a giant metal claws).
So he's doing his thing, flying around shooting his lasers; and I'm doing my thing, spamming Super Missles at the flying hunk of junk, both of us careful to respect the priceless architecture left behind by the Chozo.
I'm thinking "Man this is easy, just shoot and somewhat dodge. If I can't it's ok because his attacks are weak and I've gotten like 10 Energy Tanks. Suddenly boom phase two!
He's on the ground charging me the ol' Bull Leaping thing they do in Space Mexico, except instead of a red cape or flag he's charging at badass intergalactic bounty hunters. At this point I take back my "This is easy" comment from before.
His charging is relentless and before I can recover the overgrown metallic space lizard just keeps ramming into me some more!
I finally get some space to breath and my totally fool-proof plan of shooting him didn't work! I had to................ strategize!
I decided to try different beams. Wave did nothing so my plan of short circuiting the bucket of bolts was out the window.
Next was the Ice beam and it did do something! When correctly aimed at his open mouth it did stuff! However it shot painfully slow.
During all this Meta Rids just keeps doing the same ol with a couple of tail whips thrown in. This wasn't good for me. My health was depleting rapidly and my Ice Bream was just shooting its 2nd shot!
Before I could switch to Plasma the giant purple dinosaur had finished me. He is the first boss to kill me in this game. He's the first death I had!
You win this round, Barney. Tomorrow I'll get you for sure!
