Hope you and your fur babies are doing well this winter.

Can you please suggest me a freezing spell or something like that but without a freezer? I don't have a fridge where I am and I need this one coworker to stay away from me and my projects without souring our relationship.

I am an intermediate practitioner and mostly work with ceremonial and planetary magic, and sometimes, folk magic (not wicca or voodoo, or Celtic though)

You have a few options. You could call upon Saturn and ask him to restrict your coworkers actions towards you in this regard. To prevent him from causing you any bother- you could consecrate a candle to Saturn, if you can get a physical link that would be great you could smoke it over some incense whilst you focus and vocalise your intent. You could then carry this with you whilst you work and focus on it if you feel the situation turning that way again.

A signature would work, an item of clothing. Another neat trick is to capture the voice. Jason Miller uses a technique whereby you call to someone and tie a not in the instant that they respond to you- you do this multiple times- I believe 3 or 7 I forget. The knot then becomes associated with the individual and thus a link in itself.

You can also bind him, get a photo and some links if you can, write down the actions that are annoying you, invoke a deity- again Saturn would be fine. Fold the photo with the links three times and wrap around a black cord all whilst focusing on your intentions and stating appropriate words.

Another option you have is to dominate someone. In Hoodoo they have a technique of walking on someone- I think this is very effective. You write their name on a piece of paper and place it in your shoe and walk on them. If you feel him getting annoying stamp your foot three times with intent. You could alter this by writing the name on the back of a small photo of the person and anointing it with a domination condition oil- you can buy those at any good botanica.

Practical Magick: Magick Using Things You Probably Already Own

So often I come across people that want to begin practicing witchcraft but they don't know where to start, more specifically how to practice with little to no money. Which really shows how deeply we've gone into the whole "you need lots of money for everything you do" rabbit hole. Just to clarify, I see absolutely nothing wrong with spending as much money as you want on your craft but I personally don't think it should be a prerequisite as to whether you can practice or not. Magick is for everyone, from the person that has a negative balance in their bank account to the person averaging $100,000 or more a year. Below are some super affordable things you can use in your craft that you may already have.

Salt: This is one of those things that can literally be used in so, so, many ways. Salt can be used in a cleansing bath, to anchor your chime or birthday candles in a bowl (be careful with this one and make sure to watch it because if the candle isn't anchored just right it can fall over), to cast a circle (indoors), etc.

Pen & Paper: These two items can be used to make sigils, you can also use a pencil if that's what you have access to. The paper can be an old receipt, a napkin, just something that you are able to write on. Cleanse the pen (or pencil) and paper, either using smoke or with your intent, then write your sigil. This sigil can then be placed wherever you choose, inside of a shoe, your wallet, purse or backpack, your pocket, it's really up to you!

Coffee & Tea: Coffee and tea are not only a wonderful vessel for placing your intention into but coffee can also speed up a spell. You can drink teas that correspond with your intention, they don't have to be fancy teas. You can literally go to the dollar tree and they almost always have a selection of green, black, chamomile, peppermint, and sometimes apple cinnamon tea. Other affordable brands include Carrington Tea, The London Tea Company, and Celestial Seasonings, also check out store branded teas.

Seasonings & Condiments: I'm talking about the ones you might already have in your kitchen. Such as ground cinnamon, dried oregano, vinegar, even seasoned salt, all of these things can be used in your craft in a variety of spells. Even if you don't have access to them yourself and you go to someone's home and they offer you a cup of coffee or tea, when you add any fixings to your cup you can use those as correspondences for your intention. For instance if you add sugar or honey to your coffee, you could then enchant your coffee for having a sweet day as you're stirring it in.

Water: Water is a wonderful holder for intentions, you can get a glass of water and write your intention, a word that embodies your intention, or a sigil onto the glass that you're drinking from. Or just place your intention into the glass.

Ramen: I know this might sound strange but believe it or not, even ramen can be magickal! Ramen is made from wheat flour (I'm not sure if it's all ramen but the affordable ones that come in those little individual packages is made from wheat flour.), which is associated with abundance, prosperity, fertility, friendliness and rebirth.

I hope this gave you some ideas or at the very least showed you that magick is not something exclusive to those that have access to fancy supplies and ingredients. And even things that appear mundane can become magickal in the right hands!

Make or buy a small draw-string bag about 1-2 inches deep. Put in a pinch or two of the listed ingredients into it.

During the full moon, put the bag together, then consecrate and charge it. Make certain it is tied tightly. Before sleep each night, rub the bag over your third eye ( center of forehead) and concentrate on the question, problem or situation. Then place the bag under your pillow. Continue to concentrate on the situation as you drift off. When you wake, jot down whatever you remember in your dream journal. Your question should be answered within the first few nights. Remember dreams can be symbolic or literal.

Ask a Witch: Divination Techniques

Bibliomancy: Divination with the Bible

Bibliomancy is when, after praying and asking God your questions, you open to a random page in the Bible, wherever you are called to stop, and read a random passage. This passage will be your answer. This technique has also been used with other books, like the Illiad, the Odessy, the Mabinogion, etc. When I used this technique, in around 2015-2016, I used a book entitled The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. 

Dreams

Using dreams as a form of divination has always been a fun thing for me, especially when I was new to Witchcraft. Dreams were always a fascination of mine, and a few times I managed to successfully remember some dreams in which I had asked for guidance. I’ve found that this technique requires more practice and patience than others.

Lithomancy

This is the practice of divination with crystals. There are many ways to use this technique, but I have always used the method that was similar to Rune drawing. Gather your crystals (this can be anywhere from 5-20) and assign each of them a property. This is usually done by assigning meanings that are already similar to that of the crystal’s existing property (ex Sunstone=solar energy, hematite=attraction, amethyst=psychic energy). Then you can draw a single crystal from the bag, or do a “spread” with multiple crystals, or you can use a board setup where you interpret the meanings of the crystals based on where they landed on your board.

Scrying

Scrying allows you to see visions in a reflective surface, or other means of reading patterns. Many forms of scrying involve getting yourself into a meditative state, relaxing your eyes and gazing at a dimly lit surface in order to see images. Things that are often used to scry would be a bowl of water, a candle, or a mirror. However, there are other types of scrying that involve reading the clouds or leaves in a tree for a image, as well as the practice of throwing a substance (beads, rocks, runes, bones, sand, etc) and gaining a vision from the pattern that you see.

Tasseography

This is a form of divination that I am not too familiar with, which is the reading of tea leaves. It holds the same concept as scrying, but using the tea leaves in an empty cup as a medium. Make a cup of tea with loose tea leaves and drink the tea while meditating on your question. Once you have finished the tea, all that is left is the leaves. In the leaves there should be a vision in response to your question.

Runes

Runes are one of my more favored methods of divination. Depending on the set you are using, each stone (or piece of wood) will have a symbol etched into it. Each symbol represents something different. The runes can be drawn from a bag, thrown on the floor, or picked at random from a pile. The runes can also be read using spreads or boards if you wish.

Pendulums

Pendulums are a nice and simple form of divination for many beginners. Most pendulums aren’t anything fancy and in fact can be something as simple as a ring on a cord. Boards can be made as well, or one can simply read the different motions of the pendulum to determine an answer. It is also easy because you, the caster, tell the pendulum exactly how to reach. When you ask a question, tell the pendulum which direction means what. With my first pendulum, I told it that left was no, right was yes, and a circle meant conflict.

Candle Wax

This works similar to scrying. You light a candle and meditate with it for a little while, going over your question. After the candle has had a little time to burn, you pour the wax into a bowl of water. The wax will instantly cool and harden, and in the shapes you should have the answer you are looking for.
