each week this month we’ve done a lesson on someone important in the civil rights era for black history month. today it was MLK JR and we learned about his dream for America and the world.

as a class we discussed our dreams for the world, with my example of: I have a dream that every child gets to grow up safe and healthy. And then I asked my class to tell me their dreams so they could draw them for me.

Mind you I teach four and five year olds. So we had some range, but this the best example of what that range was:

“I have a dream that everyone can have a miracle!” followed directly by “I have a dream that everyone can pet a pig!”

DON’T👏🏻SLEEP👏🏻ON👏🏻DOLLAR👏🏻TREE👏🏻 Dollar Tree is an awesome place for educational supplies for at home, and items to make activities! Flash cards (they also had colors, shapes, multiplication, division) put into a photo book makes for great dry-erase workbooks. The flash cards came in packs of 52 and if you put a card in each side of a page, plus one on the inside of each cover, it holds 50. I made 1 book for each and cut the front of the boxes out, sticking them in the cover so I can easily tell which is which. HUGE assortment of PreK-2nd/3rd grade work books (probably higher and I just didn’t notice bc I wasn’t looking for those) for math, spelling, phonics, sight words, and reward stickers! The entire book/educational section is filled with great items to make your own little set up of at-home school work. I’d have gotten WAY more, but I also got a bunch of other items for other hacks/crafts. Which I will obviously be sharing at some point, as well.

Peyton starts Pre-K tomorrow. I can't believe it. I know it'll be similar to last year but she'll be in an actual public school and it just seems so official that she's starting real school. I've enjoyed all our time together the past few months. She's growing up way too fast!!
