Today I just ran an easy run before my big day [[race tomorrow]]!
It was a really slow road run, a little under 3 miles in 26 minutes. It was nothing too heavy, just a little shakeout before tomorrow.
I'm actually very excited for tomorrow, I'm just really eager to race and give it my all. I've planned out my race splits and everything, I feel very prepared.
For the 1500m, to get the times I want, I need to run the first 300 fast. Somewhere in the 56-58 second range. Then, from there on out I plan to keep very even splits, somewhere in the 80-83 second range, and then give it my all on the last lap. If all goes as planned, this will definitely get me under the 5:10 range, and really close to the 5:00 range, which is exciting :)
For the 800m, I'm going to positive split it (run the first lap faster than the second lap). In such a short race, it's pretty difficult to run the second lap faster than the first, (unless if the first lap wasn't fast to begin with). What I've learned over this season is that I take the first lap out way too fast. In this race I'm going to aim to run a mangable 69 second first lap, and a 72 second second lap. This will get me in the 2:21-2:23 range, which is my goal.
I'm just really excited to run tomorrow (I know I keep on saying this, but I am! :) ) and really show them what I've got. Even if I don't perform the way I want to, at least I've had a great season. I've never ran in a race post season like this before, I've never trained by myself (not including cross country) for a race before, and I'm just proud of how far I've came. Last year, my PR's for the 800m and 1500m were 2:36 and 5:51, I never thought I would run the times that I'm running now and still want more. But I do want more, because I know I have much more in me. I know I'm capable of more. I'm going to run my lil' heart out :)
