POV: You can't cast magic so you help your father with his job protecting artefacts and end up exposed to a cursed sword with an evil dragon in it.

It's my guy Khent! His grand debut! (Along with his pre-divorced parents Keyne and Evelyn and aforementioned dragon.) He's cursed, he's gay, he's trans, he's mentally ill, and he's gonna go on an adventure!

I have absolutely no clue to start with this guy I have soooooo much art of him in my backlog and half of it I am for sure not posting cause I've changed his design too much.

What's the pace I'm going? No one knows! I'm probably gonna post a few things. I am 100% open to questions about him or any of my ocs and their companions.

I’ve done loads of Soren comps but this one’s probably the best of them. I can be pretty inconsistent with drawing him and a lot of the prior ones were very iterative…

I got inspired to do this after I had a smaller sketch sesh for Khent (pictured below) Kudos to @bathylychnops for putting out his art process video cause it kicked my creative interest into high gear.

More precampaign stuff,,, Short summary of all the folks... It's not even half of everything Maybe I should make like a post with all the need to know stuff, but in the meantime...

Khent - He's recently half dragon! He has divorced parents, father issues, and a malicious green dragon trapped in his head that torments him. He is very clever but incapable of magic, so he helped his father academically and physically.

Keyne - Khent's father, a tempest cleric to Hlal and the arbiter of artefacts in the city of Glimmerwood. He's a distant but caring man who struggles to let others in. Lived with his son and cat Calia, even past the incident that introduced the dragon.

Evelyn - Khent's mom, an independent jeweler and arteficer. A relatively mundane life allows her a lot of time to ponder. She's very caring, but has found herself quite isolated from the people she loves.

More precampaign stuff cause I’m trying to figure out the order for the rest and what I do and don’t want to post. I’ve drawn him for so long and so much I think stuff is simply of the past or I’ve iterated past it too far. We’ll see we’ll see.

More Evelyn to come as well! She gets a bit less attention but consequently she has it a bit easier than Khent and Keyne. 🙂💦

Journal Entry

Jakob spoke with me today. I’d seen him at the tavern a few times, but we didn’t really talk, until today.

He saw what I did with Balaviir, taking down that monster. He said I was brave, maybe braver than him. Then he apologized. I think my heart stopped.

He said he shouldn’t have made it weird, and that honestly, he liked my performance back in Greyfilth. He just, he supposed he hadn’t ever really felt that way before. About someone, well, like me. When it happened, I guess reality kind of caught up with him, and he panicked.

He gave me a dagger, said he found it back when he lived the life of an adventurer. Said that, with my new life as an adventurer, traveling with Balaviir, perhaps I’d get more use out of it than he could.

It’s a beautiful dagger, but, honestly I wish he’d given me something else, you know? Something…less tangible.

I think I apologized, honestly I can’t remember, I was so flustered and nervous, but he told me he hoped to see me again. Said it was high time for him to get going, but he hoped we could cross paths again someday.

I agreed. I agree.

  I…I think I’m in love all over again.

Journal Entry

I don’t even know how to begin this.

When I first became a bard, the feeling that gave me? This is that and then some. This is rapture.

I don’t know where that monster came from, or what it wanted with Demeria, but when that dragonborn guy, Balaviir, stepped out to help fight it, I just…I felt like I had to as well, you know? I haven’t known the guy very long, but despite the chaos, the death, he stood strong regardless.

When that thing finally came down, and I realized I had a hand in doing that, something clicked. I think I know what I want to do now. I think I have a real purpose, you know?

Balaviir agreed to let me travel with him from now on, and honestly, that’s the best news I’ve heard in some time.

To follow a warrior like him, a true hero, that could mean a lot for what I do. I could create a legend around this guy. “The Dragon Warrior comes!” No, “the Golden Guardian.” No no, that’s stupid.  “The Drake of…” something.

Wait. “The Drake of Demeria.” I think I have a story.

Jakob says he’s leaving. I don’t blame him.

I told him I should probably be heading out too, get back to Demeria. I should have just kept my mouth shut. Told me that was the next stop on his list, and we should meet up there.

It’s hard to smile at someone you know you messed up with.

Regardless, I think it’s for the best. Why not. Nothing left in Greyfilth for me but bad memories anyway.

  Why did I have to go and be stupid.
