This is Teacher Lee. Teacher Lee is my mom. She has been teaching preschool for over 20 years and recently she started a new program called Teacher Lee Play-to-Learn™. Teacher Lee Play-to-Learn™ is a completely free preschool that targets the 49 percent of San Diego county children who can’t afford to attend preschools that can cost $8,000 per year. Her program not only gives children a way to prepare for kindergarten but she also gives the parents the tools and knowledge they need to help them learn at home and turn every moment of every day into a learning opportunity. Every day Teacher Lee packs her car with everything a preschool could possible need. She drives to her location for the day and alone sets up a fully functioning preschool. She sets up different stations for the children to explore. They include an art table, a book corner, train mats, blocks, play dough, and more. The children are encouraged to explore and move freely to each table. Through this the children develop letter, number, and color recognition along with motor coordination, spatial awareness, and social skills. These are all important not only for kindergarten, but for the rest of their lives. Studies have shown that children who have attended preschool have a 29% better chance of getting into college and it had been estimated that high-quality preschool for all four-year-olds could result in 730 fewer dropouts, 1000 fewer children held back a grade in school, and 4600 fewer child years of special education in San Diego county alone. A Chicago study indicated that children without a preschool education are 70% more likely to be arrested for a violent crime before the age of 18 while here in San Diego county, the RAND study estimated that preschool could result in 2150 fewer juvenile petitions. Teacher Lee is doing very important work for no money. She runs completely on donations but donations are very scarce. If she doesn't get help soon she may not be able to continue her amazing work. Help my mom by spreading the word about her program. If you want to learn more or you want to help by donating, go to http://www.teacherlee.com/. The children need you. HELP MY MOM HELP THE CHILDREN!!
