Arbor Demon
This is kind of your typical horror movie, your ‘something is in the woods, what is it?’ deal. I thought it looked great. The tension was good. The monster reveal was a bit different (reading some of the comments on the movie was hilarious as it apparently soared right over a few heads).
(Trying to voice my complaint without spoiling too much) I just wish it had had an alternate happier ending? I kind of got into their relationship and was rooting for them to work it out. (I’m getting tired of rooting for Fiona’s character only to have it not entirely work out. lol)
Blood is Blood
A bit of a mind warping thriller that keeps you wondering what is going on until the end (or close to it). There’s not much to say about it that wouldn’t give away the plot, but I enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure I would at the beginning, but yeah.
Chasing Gold (aka Precious Mettle)
I don’t know if this was re-released or what the deal is, but it’s on amazon by both names, and only ‘Chasing Gold’ is available to watch, so.
Out of the three movies, I saved this one for last because I thought I would probably like it the least. But to the contrary, I think it’s my favorite of the three.
(Full disclosure: I am a total sucker for father/daughter stories. And this was an emotional one, wrapped up with a murder mystery.)
I especially liked the beginning when she didn’t know what was going on and she’s terrified and he’s heartbroken.
My only complaint about this movie is the ending feels premature. I don’t know what they were trying to do there. But aside from that last thirty seconds, I recommend.
And the soundtrack is kinda gorgeous.
