Hcs for young!genji, prefall!gabriel reyes, prefall!jack morrison, and mercy watching their S/O playing their favourite video game please?

If you can guess which games I’m referring to, kudos to you (and send me your guesses too if you want)

Young!Genji Shimada:

It takes him awhile to understand what’s going on since you’re giving him a brief summary of the game as you’re  fighting off a hundred foot tall opponent

“Why are they fighting that thing when they have teleportation powers and a powerful car?” “Because they can Genji.”

Eventually you’ll let him take over after giving him a quick tutorial on the game’s mechanics and he actually manages to escape from the battle nearly unscathed

Genji does laugh at some of the in-game dialogue that takes place as he’s fighting a lower level enemy

But he does wince at some of the food options and complains about a few of them too

“Who eats Cup Noodles when you can have authentic ramen?”

Genji does become quite invested in the game’s lore, so be prepared to hear some theories that you may have already heard about

You actually have to pry the controller away from Genji so he doesn’t end up wasting half of your money on food and take back control of the game

Although you can tell that he did enjoy messing around with the characters a bit, you weren’t sure if you would let him near it anytime soon

At least until you got back all of the money and resources that Genji had spent on that one grocery trip and the one battle between a mid-level enemy

Jack Morrison:

He doesn’t understand how a person in a hooded robe can go unnoticed as they’re scaling the walls of bustling cities

“Who can survive a two thousand foot drop using outdated skydiving techniques?”

Despite trying to outlogic the game, Jack does enjoy watching you play whenever the two of you had time

You do let him run around when your frustration levels begin to rise or if you wanted to take a break after a tough story mission

Every time you miscalculate a jump, die because of an enemy or accidentally fall to the ground, the two of you wince as the camera zooms in on the now dead character

Jack does get immensely confused with the in-game universe and its lore

“How have they managed to retrieve memories through biological methods when we haven’t done that yet?”

He does make a mental note to ask Mercy about it sometime soon

The two of you do laugh at some of the glitches that occur randomly, especially when you’re trying to escape the current area

Eventually these gaming sessions turn into date nights for you and Jack where he two of you could relax and forget about your problems

Gabriel Reyes:

Absolutely loves the premise of the game when you tell him about it

Growing up, he loved reading about pirates and their countless adventures, so to see a game about people talking and looking for lost pirate treasure was a dream come true

Gabe kinda beats himself up a bit about not knowing that this game existed until now

He pesters you to let him try after watching for ten minutes until you finally hand over the controller to teach him how to play the game

Much to your surprise, Gabe manages to pick off most of the enemies surrounding the area with ease before he blows up one of an ambush truck with an RPG, effectively passing through the battle without dying

Then again he was the commander of Blackwatch, a covert ops unit, so it wasn’t that surprising that he would’ve picked up on their patterns quickly

He will definitely run around and collect all of the treasure pieces lying around

If you were in control of the game, he would make up pick up all of the collectibles in the area before allowing the story to proceed

Definitely bobs his head along to the music as the character wanders around the map

The two of you definitely laugh at all of the cutscenes and in-game dialogue

Gabe does praise the game for its storytelling when you’re finished playing for the day

But you can count on him to have some witty remark about the characters too

Date nights now consist of the two of you messing around in multiplayer mode the moment you tell Gabe about it

If you don’t have an extra controller or if it’s broken, expect a new one to arrive in the next two days, courtesy of one Gabriel Reyes

Angela Ziegler/Mercy:

Much like Gabe, Angela does love the premise of the game she’s watching you play

However, she looks at the game from a medical perspective

“Mein Gött, how are they still alive without an active medic?”

Mercy does take a liking to the main characters, especially the orphaned girl as they run a post-apocalyptic wasteland

However, she is intrigued with several major plot points as the game progresses

Although Angela doesn’t have any interest in playing the game herself, it is relaxing to watch you play it

Does laugh at certain gameplay moments, especially when the girl dashes across the screen while you’re hiding

Loves to lean her head on your shoulder as you move forward with the game

A few tears do slip out when you reach the end  and you laugh as you hug her

Then again, you’d be lying if you hadn’t cried a little bit at the end as well

If there was a sequel for the game, Angela would immediately order it and pay extra just to have it shipped in one or two days

That was just how much she loved it

How do u think Gabriel and Jack were like leaders? How they used to cheer their team up, give a lecture, some habits and all that

I made it a reader-insert if that’s alright. Long post ahead, everyone.

Gabriel Reyes:

From what you could remember during your time in Blackwatch, you knew that Gabriel Reyes wasn’t a typical hardass leader

Yes, he did have his moments where he yelled at someone that was a bit too loud for your taste; but if that ever happened, it wasn’t entirely uncalled for

You remembered telling some of the newer recruits that if he saw any Blackwatch agent looking slightly distraught, Gabe would be at their side and cheering them up as best as he could without showing any sign of favoritism

Although you tried your best to avoid Gabe’s lectures, you had found yourself on the receiving end of his disappointing stare

Even McCree himself would’ve cowered a bit under that stare

You did see him play around with that beanie of his a lot, especially when he was nervous about a mission that may have gone south

There were times where you could make Gabe laugh or chuckle, especially if you muttered something disdainful about some of the UN ambassadors that were pricks to the organization

Occasionally you would hear Gabe cough ‘boy scout’ quietly as the Strike Commander was walking by and you would have to exert as much self-restraint as you could to not burst out laughing in the middle of the hall

There was that one time where you caught Gabe slipping a bit of whiskey into his coffee with an expression that you could only read as ‘I need stimulation but at the same time I need to drown my sorrows in alcohol.’

When tensions between Blackwatch and Overwatch began to affect nearly everyone in the organization, you remember Gabe waking you up in the middle of the night, shoving fake papers into your hand along with a duffel bag filled with your belongings, and urging you to leave

You nearly snapped at him, ready to argue that you still had a place in Blackwatch, but the stare he gave you made you nod as you let him escort you off-base

As you left however, you wondered if this was how McCree left Blackwatch as well

When you agreed to rejoin Overwatch post-recall, you swear you hear Gabe’s voice telling you that he was happy to see you back and how he had so much to tell you, albeit just a bit lower and more raspier than normal

Jack Morrison:

You were only an Overwatch agent for a few years before it was disbanded, but in that time you managed to learn a few personal things about Strike Commander Jack Morrison

Although he was genial and easygoing at times, he was capable of shouting at an agent with no remorse and being incredibly rough of some of the operatives during missions

You swore that there was a new wrinkle added to Jack’s forehead every time he had to deliver yet another riveting speech to keep the public’s hopes up

Even though you’ve tried to get closer to him, there was always an invisible barrier between you two that prevented you from knowing Jack on a more intimate level

It wasn’t until Ana was announced to be MIA that you truly got to know him better after he came to you and physically hugged you, much to your surprise

After that, you began seeing that some of his lectures or pre-mission talks seemed to have stemmed from Jack’s fear of losing more people to Overwatch’s enemies and not simply out of spite or pure anger

He still knew how to rally a team and boost their morale, but you knew deep down that it drained him extensively

However, you had caught him comforting agents from time to time, especially near the end of Overwatch

The two of you would spar together in private just to release some pent-up frustration

In all honesty, sometimes you could never fathom how Jack survived as Strike Commander for so long

Sometimes you would listen to Jack ramble on about the tension between Blackwatch and Overwatch while giving a few words of advice as the two of you were walking to God knows where

You tried to make him laugh during those walks, just trying to elicit even a small smile onto his face

When he did laugh though, you swear the stress that was weighing him down seemed to lift just a bit

On occasion, Jack would tell you about the visions he once had for Overwatch, about how he was going to make it better than it currently was just so the entire populace had a chance to live in a world where they only knew peace

In the final days of Overwatch, it became increasingly difficult to differentiate between Strike Commander Morrison and regular Jack Morrison

On the day before the Swiss bombing, you tried your hardest to stay out of Jack’s way, afraid of what would happen if you had to talk to him

It wasn’t until local news stations announced his death that you regretted not trying to speak to him at least once

Many years later when Overwatch was recalled, Winston personally asks you to be his second-in-command and you accept, if only to honor Jack’s memory and rebuild the organization into what he had envisioned for it

jack, hanzo and genji reacting to their s/o babysitting them when they get sick?

Going to be writing young!Genji since I’m fairly sure that cyborgs don’t get sick.

Prefall!Jack Morrison:

Even though his immune system had made him less susceptible to illnesses thanks to the SEP, Jack did get the flu occasionally

The most probable cause was from stress and sleep deprivation

No one said being Strike Commander of Overwatch was an easy job

As soon as you hear Jack cough more than twice in the morning, you forced him to go to Angela

And by forced, that meant calling Ana and Gabe in to help you wrestle a groggy Jack to the infirmary as discreetly as possible

While Ana was busying herself with Jack’s responsibilities, you were busy stockpiling yours and Jack’s room with tissues and enough meds to last a month

“The damsel in distress is back and still alive! Don’t have too much fun, you two.” Gabe chuckles as he drops Jack off in bed and claps your shoulder before leaving

As soon as you tucked Jack in and made sure he’d taken his meds, you pulled up a chair and began filling in as much paperwork as you could

For the most part, Jack slept soundly unless the alarm you set on your holopad alerted you to give him his meds

Or if he needed to eat

Or if his bladder was calling for the bathroom

Unless there was some urgent matter at hand, you didn’t tell Jack a word about what was going on in Overwatch/Blackwatch

“Did the report from Gabe come in on time?” “Jack, go back to sleep.”

When the worst of Jack’s cold was over, you snuggled in bed with Jack while he was asleep after sleeping on the couch for the past few days

Even though he wants you to stay away for the entire duration of his illness just in case you got sick, he knew he would be met with a lot of resistance from you and simply wrapped his arms around you before dozing off once more

Hanzo Shimada:

Hanzo Shimada did not get sick. Period

But nature clearly begged to differ

When you started noticing the telltale signs of the common cold from Hanzo during training, you took him straight to the medical ward

“I do not get sick, Y/N.” “Might want to rethink that soon, Hanzo.”

Angela confines him to his room once she confidently diagnosed him with the flu just so he didn’t go around and infect others

After Mercy hands you his meds, you have to force Hanzo into bed with the help of the noodle dragons

Yes, even the noodle dragons have to help you in your endeavour to get their master to rest

Hanzo reluctantly gets under the covers and takes the pills you hand him before falling asleep

You stash his bow and quiver away somewhere with the dragons keeping watch over Hanzo in case he woke up and caught you hiding his weapons

Although he doesn’t voice his annoyance at being sick, you can feel it radiating from him when you checked in

Even though he does try and persuade you to cuddle with him occasionally, you force yourself not to until his chance of giving you the flu were almost non-existent

When he’s well enough for you to be within a ten meter radius and not risk contracting a cold as well, you barely leave Hanzo’s side after that

Young!Genji Shimada:

Super needy when he’s sick

You barely leave his side as soon as you arrive

The only times you do is when you go out and sneak snacks in, hoping that no one saw you

You have taken sneaky photos of his favorite ramen bar on the way back and sent them to him with a teasing caption

You’d be pressed up to Genji’s side constantly, but you immediately untangle yourself from him as soon as he falls asleep just to take a short walk around the estate

He’s more receptive to taking his meds and getting some sleep so long as he gets to cuddle with you

The two of you do spend a good portion of time playing video games and relaxing until Genji’s food arrives or Genji’s father decides to check in

Hanzo does visit his brother occasionally but only when he’s certain that Genji’s asleep

Not that you mind, just as long as he doesn’t wake Genji up

Which he never does

You have to physically restrain Genji from kissing you just so you had a better chance of not getting sick

Not that Genji would mind, it gave him the opportunity to return the favor and take care of you

As soon as Genji’s better though, the two of you would be making out and be all over each other like there was no tomorrow

Prefall!Gabriel Reyes:

The most common thing you love ‘borrowing’ from Gabe is his beanie

It didn’t matter where or who was around, you were getting that damn beanie

Gabe would laugh every time you couldn’t snatch it off his head, but would be surprised when you managed to do it

Eventually he settles on getting you an identical beanie so you would stop stealing his

Even though you wear your new beanie with pride, you still take the time to try and steal Gabe’s beanie as a challenge for yourself

Your favorite opportunities to steal it is when Gabe’s talking with Jack in the hall

Not that Gabe minds too much when he sees you wink at him as you put on the beanie, he’ll find a way to get it back

Prefall!Jack Morrison:

You love wearing Jack’s t-shirts

It didn’t matter if it was the worst time of the year, you were wearing one of his shirts

Jack’s not going to lie, he does enjoy seeing you in them

Loves waking up and spooning you while you’re wearing one of his shirts

If he catches you asleep in his shirt after coming back from an exhausting day, be prepared to wake up with light kisses up and down your neck

He doesn’t have any objections, so long as you don’t let people see you in his shirt

Besides maintaining his professional reputation around Overwatch, he kind of wants to be the only person who sees you in his own clothes

In any case, Jack isn’t inclined to ask for his shirts back any time soon

Not that you’re going to give them back any time either. Those shirts are really comfortable

You and Jack had been in a relationship for a good few years

The two of you were always at each other’s side

In missions, at public events, etc.

Everyone knew you as the Strike Commander’s partner that no one touched unless they wanted to die

Even though your engagement was a complete secret, somehow the news got out and it made everyone either freak out more in happiness or in jealously

Have you seen that man? Anyone would be jealous of whoever got to marry him

You were his shoulder to lean on after a rough day, a voice that calmed him down and provided advice in tough situations

You always kissed his cheek in front of new recruits, just to embarrass Jack

One time you even kissed him so passionately that Jack was blushing the entire day

Until the two of you were alone in the bedroom

Except for Talon (because Talon knows no bounds when it comes to Overwatch)

You were sent on a team mission to infiltrate and gather as much information in an abandoned base when it all went south

Jack didn’t even know you went missing due to bad weather conditions which prevented messages from being relayed from the ship to Overwatch until your team returns and you don’t step out of the dropship with a hug and kiss for him

He immediately devoted a good portion of Overwatch’s resources into finding you but to no avail. You were truly missing

Ana and Gabe have to keep him sane when Jack eventually comes around to the idea that you may be dead by Talon’s hand

When Switzerland rolls around, Jack finally relaxes, knowing that he may have a chance to see you

But of course he doesn’t actually leave this world. Because where’s the fun in that?

He becomes Soldier: 76 and becomes a shadow that only emerged to fight injustice and gangs all over the world

Despite all that he lived through after the fall, he never forgot you.

Not that he could, you were too important for him to even try

When Overwatch was recalled by Winston, Jack was hesitant to even go to Gibraltar

He and Ana still had work to do, but ultimately it was because of Ana that the two of them went to the base

However, when he arrives, he sees a very familiar face

Namely your face

You hadn’t aged a day and good Lord was Jack grateful for his visor which hid his shock and gaping expression

You turn to glance at the newcomers and you beam at Ana but frown at Jack

Mercy later informs Ana and Jack that you had been suffering with amnesia after being stuffed into cryostasis by Talon

You had been experimented on extensively until the base had been abandoned and had only woken up due to a tech malfunction

Naturally the prefall! agents were all a bit suspicious that you were another Widowmaker, brainwashed to kill them all in their sleep

However, you kept on going about your day like your old self and slept soundly at night

You trained with the agents that had been recalled along with new ones that had been recruited by Winston

Surprisingly you managed to retain a good portion of your fighting abilities before you went MIA when you managed to take down Reinhardt one day in the training arena

The only thing that had changed about you was that you couldn’t recognize Jack fully

You’d get the occasional twinge in your heart that he meant something to you but you could never place your finger on it

Believe anyone when they say that Jack’s mood was always unstable

Especially when you were nearby

The last time he cried so hard was when you were declared MIA

He had mourned you, he even left flowers at your parents house every year on the day you ‘died’

You tried to talk to Jack but every time you did, he either had short responses for you or just plainly ignored you

Eventually your frustration reaches its limit and one day you snap when he ignores you in the common area for the last time 

Everyone in the room went silent and Jack just stared at you before taking your hand

He led you to a secluded area on base and removed his visor, showing you his full face before you can even apologize for your outburst

In a moment, every memory about Jack Morrison returns and you actually have to hold your head in your hands because of the headache

You remember holding onto the thought of Jack retrieving you from Talon, taking out every single agent that dared to stand in his way as scientists poked and prodded at your body before forcing you into a cryo pod

All of the times you purposefully embarrassed him in front of people, standing in the wings while you waited for him to finish delivering another statement to the public, even talking about starting a family together one night

When you say “Jack?” for the first time in years, he crumbles in front of you

The two of you stand there in a tight hug as you run your hand through Jack’s silver-white hair while Jack himself tried to grasp with the fact that you were truly alive and hugging him

Even though the two of you have a lot to talk about, you’re filled with hope when Jack kisses you gently on the lips and promises to be there for you before leading you back to the base with your hand in his
