As my oldest of three children graduates from college tomorrow, I have had plenty of years to joke about how each of my children contributed to my "mom body". The first child gave me gray hair; the 2nd one gave me pregnancy mask; and the baby gave me a purple-ish gouge of a stretch mark across my right hip. Of course, I really don't "blame" these kiddos of mine for my "mom body", but it's fun to make light of my "imperfections". (If we don't laugh, we'll cry about them, right?!) We all have at least one flaw that we do our best to hide from the public eye - whether it's from birthing babies or from other reasons. You know that spot(s), right?! I really don't see any problem with covering up those areas that we're not super keen about. Yep, I can color that gray, and I can put foundation over those brown spots on my face, and I can skip wearing that bikini that would show the purple gouge; and that's ok. But the problem lies in how much do I focus on and obsess over those flaws? It's really not going to do any good to worry about them - so why bother? My Creator God made me in His image, He knew about those spots before I was even born (and gave my own mom her "mom body"), and He loves me the same -- flaws and all. Instead of focusing on my flaws, I choose this day to focus on making my body healthier today than it was yesterday so that I can continue to love on my grown babies and on my hubby -- because the better I take care of the body that God gave me, the better I can take care of and serve others. He continues to have a purpose for this ol' beat-up "mom body" of mine, and He has a purpose for your body as well! So, let's take good care of them. Shall we?!
