Random PSA for people who get frost/ice on their windshields:
I understand this probably doesn’t apply to everyone (especially right now with a lot of people working from home primarily) but if you own/drive a car and have to get up early to commute to work, this may save you some $$ and grief during the icy months.
If you drive a car early in the morning, you probably end up having to defrost it this time of year. So, to save time you might invest in some kind of de-icer product like these:
Now, if you’re like me, you go for the aerosol because application is quicker and your car ends up defrosted very fast. But - you also end up going through a can just as quick because there’s less product in there.
So you might look for a longer lasting/more affordable alternative that might be something like this:
Speaking specifically on this brand, DONT BUY THIS. There may be alternative spray bottle options that work, the Prestone spray bottle does not. (From my personal experience and others that I know who have tried this product)
The de-icer does work. The actual chemical isn’t the problem. The issue with this product lies in its packaging. This specific bottle has a difficult to open “child-safe” nozzle that will immediately drip all over your hands if you attempt to use it as intended. And if you want to say, remove the faulty nozzle to swap it out for another you have to pry it off with a screwdriver because as another safety measure the screw on base is built like a pharmacy pill bottle.
All this to say, the product is only worth using if you have a $1 spray bottle handy and a spare cap to put back on the bottle once the original nozzle has been removed (otherwise it’ll leak everywhere) or if you only buy the liquid to fill other spray bottles.
I will admit that it’s lasting longer than the last aerosol can I had though, so there’s that.
