(real not fake) the story of david faulkner. who was taken by jigsaw in 2003 for not appreciating the life he had. getting paid the bare minimum of being an orderly and having the heart of gold to clean up after sick people. befriending a few of the older patients that were just ready to leave and get back to their normal lives. he took care of an older lady that’d call him a sweetheart and say he reminded her of her son, even calling him by his name from time to time. when david woke up with a contraption on his face he didn’t know what to think. he was scared and confused and nauseous, not knowing how or why he was there and who put him there. he had to gut someone, someone he later found out was still alive, to get a key. he unlocked the contraption and slammed it to the ground, the first thing he could do was scream and curl up. after he found an exit out into the pouring rain, he somehow stumbled his way back to the hospital and they called the police. he was brought in for questioning and was released when they found nothing on him for premeditated murder. david spent his life in fear, looking over his shoulder more than once while walking down the street, not being in a public space for more than a few minutes, refusing to speak to anyone. not even the old lady that had called him sweet. everywhere he looked put him in fear and all he could think of was that puppet. he needed to get out of there. he was unfortunately let go from his job, so he scraped together enough money and moved west. he picked up small jobs from town to town and eventually he made it to California a year later, furthest from New York. he felt safer than he had in a long time. although, he still put tough locks on the front door of his new apartment and carried pepper spray in his traveling bag. he spent a few years getting to know the town, picking up small jobs here and there and he felt that he could really live in peace with himself. some time went by and he saw a flyer for a job at a record store, a woman named Andie worked there and needed someone to stock the shelves and help keep the place running. david realized this was the moment where he could choose to meet some actual people, or coward away for a few more years, but he already found himself walking in the direction of the store. ten years had gone by since he was kidnapped by jigsaw and he was happy. turns out Andie was a sweet girl and he couldn’t help but develop feelings for her, and he was sure she liked him too. he didn’t think he could ever feel like that for anybody. there another girl that worked at the record store, Bess was her name, much younger than him and Andie. she was very quiet and only ever really said anything to Andie, but after overhearing a conversation they had, he learned that she had a crush on a guy named Scott. he doesn’t know how he didn’t see it sooner. after his and Andie’s first kiss, she kept avoiding him. obsessing over the guy, Scott. he walked over to her house and he tried apologizing for whatever he did, he just wanted to get it right, he wanted to love somebody and he wanted somebody to love him after the shit life he already had. she kissed him and he was relieved. until there was a knife in his stomach and he was up against the wall on the floor. he ended up dying on a bathroom floor, just like how his twin brother did nine years prior. SEND POST. edit: i wrote this at like 4 in the morning a few days ago so who knows what i really said in this post but i spent so long writing it i am NOT rewriting it😭

Elriel crumbs in ACOSF

1. We learn in acosf that Elain smells like jasmine and also NC smells like jasmine. Scent is a big thing in sarah’s book and learning about elain’s scent in acosf is very important.

Her sister’s delicate scent of jasmine and honey lingered in the red-stoned hall like a promise of spring, a sparkling river that she followed to the open doors of the chamber.

I smelled jasmine first—then saw stars. A sea of stars flickering beyond glowing pillars of moonstone that framed the sweeping view of endless snowcapped mountains. “Welcome to the Night Court,” was all Rhys said. (acomaf)

2. Cassian informs azriel with the fight between nesta and elain.

“At least you’re honest.” Azriel smirked. “You and Nesta are wanted down there.” “Because of the shit with Elain?” Azriel stilled. “What happened to Elain?” Cassian waved a hand. “A fight with Nesta. Don’t bring it up,” he warned when Azriel’s eyes darkened. Cassian blew out a breath. “I take that as a no regarding the meeting topic, then.”

the wording in here is important. cassian says "with elain" but azriel's only concern is "what happened to elain?"

The scenes continues with this.

“It’s about what I discovered. Rhys said he requires you both there.” “It’s bad, then.” Cassian surveyed the shadows gathered around Az. “You all right?” His brother nodded. “Fine.” But shadows still swarmed him.”

He thinks something happened to elain and his shadows swarms him.

3. Nesta and Elain fight about the dread trove and Nesta says "you will become interesting after all"

Nesta saw the blow land, like a physical impact, in Elain’s face, her posture. No one spoke, though shadows gathered in the corners of the room, like snakes preparing to strike.

and we see that shadows gather in the corners to defend elain. Snakes preparing to strike.

4. Feyre talks about how elain is good at what azriel does best.

Feyre smiled. “Elain was the only one who guessed. She caught me vomiting two mornings in a row.” She nodded toward Azriel. “I think she’s got you beat for secret-keeping.”

5. Azriel rescuing elain in acowar being brought up.

Azriel stiffened. “I know. I helped rescue Elain, after all.” Az hadn’t so much as hesitated before going into the heart of Hybern’s war-camp.

and we know how he risked his life to save her.

From the shadows near the entrance to the tent, Azriel said, as if in answer to some unspoken debate, “I’m getting her back.” Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azriel’s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows. Nesta said, “Then you will die.” Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, “I’m getting her back.”

6. Cassian figures out the change between Azriel and Mor.

He was still happy to be Mor’s buffer with Azriel, but there’d been a change lately. In both of them. Mor no longer sat beside Cassian, draped herself over him, and Azriel … those longing glances toward her had become few and far between. As if he’d given up. After five hundred years, he’d somehow given up. Cassian couldn’t think why.

and this is importan because in acomaf feyre thinks about azriel and elain being together but then thinks about mor and azriel "relationship"

And I think Elain—Elain would like it, too. Though she’d probably cling to Azriel, just to have some peace and quiet.” I smiled at the thought—at how handsome they would be together. If the warrior ever stopped quietly loving Mor. I doubted it. Azriel would likely love Mor until he was a whisper of darkness between the stars.

7. Azriel being concerned about Elain scrying the dread trove.

Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, “There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to.”

don't go and call this "toxic" because the next paragraph cassian says " “But Nesta should?” Cassian growled."

8. Nesta is going to do the scrying but she is concerned that elain will be captured again and azriel says this:

“Not the ones under my command,” Azriel said with soft menace. Nesta met his stare, knowing he was the only one aside from Feyre who could truly understand her hesitation. He’d gone with Feyre into the heart of Hybern’s camp to save Elain—he knew the risk. “We won’t make the same mistake twice.”

The important part in here is that "he was the only one aside from feyre who could truly understand her hesitation." After her sisters azriel is the one that will be most concerned about elain.

and we again read about azriel saving elain in acowar.

9. Eye contact and looking away shyly.

“I always thought she was born on the wrong side of the wall,” Elain admitted. “She made ballrooms into battlefields and plotted like any general. Like you two,” she said, nodding to Cassian, and then, a bit more shyly, to Azriel. Azriel offered her a small smile that Elain quickly looked away from.

10. Azriel following the sound of Elain's laugh.

Nesta shook her head slowly, not understanding. Elain just linked her arm through Nesta’s and led her toward the family room, where Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if he’d heard Elain’s sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it.

He is so whipped.

11. Charged glance.

Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. Elain’s breath caught slightly, and she gave him a shallow nod of greeting before brushing past, leading Nesta into the room.

12. Nesta figuring out Azriel's secret.

“My shadows don’t like the flames so much.” A pretty lie. She’d seen Azriel before the fire plenty. But she looked at who sat close to it and knew the answer.

the answer = lucien

"Shadows darkened his eyes, full of enough pain that she couldn’t stop herself from touching his shoulder. Letting him see that she understood why he stood in the doorway, why he wouldn’t go near the fire. His secret to tell, never hers.

13. Azriel behavior after the solsctice.

Three days passed with no word from Cassian. He’d been replaced in training by a stone-faced Azriel, who was more aloof than usual and wouldn’t even give her a smile.

We can point this out to him being upset after solsctice because lucien was with them and his secret being elain.

Soo...What I really want to point out is that as you can see I didn't mention the bonus chapter. Not once. All the quotes are from acosf and previous books.

When Sarah said "I thought it was pretty obvious" this is what she was talking about.
