Fancasts From Atop Visenya’s Hill
-> Rose Byrne as Pretty Pia
Pia listened as solemnly as a girl of five being lessoned by her septa. That's all she is, a little girl in a woman's body, scarred and scared.
Jaime has a very sweet little arc with Pia. It sucks she was cut from the show.
Basically she was born at Harrenhal and was a servant there when young and through the War of the Five Kings. She had a crush on Jaime when he got his white cloak at the tourney, and even says she pictured him when she was with other men.
We first actually see her on page during Arya’s time at Harrenhal. She is a pretty, young girl who works in the Buttery. She has relations with one of the Brave Companions/Bloody Mummers. Then when Roose Bolton takes the castle he puts the women who lay with lions in the stocks— NOT to shame them or throw fruit at them like you usually see the stocks in media. But so his men can rape them whenever they want. Just out in front of everyone. (And a woman gleefully says it's going to happen to Arya when Tywin comes back. She's nine, lady. Gross. Not that' it's fine it happened to Pia. Just... ugh.)
It’s one of the darker things that happens which is saying a lot. It’s quite horrific to think about. She makes butter. She didn’t do treason or harm anyone. First she’s in Tywin’s grasp and he uses fear to get what he wants (that why I say she had relations with a Bloody Mummer not sex, because I bet she was too terrified to say no). And Roose Bolton treats people like things. Both are terrible.
We also hear secondhand that Gregor Clegane knocked many of her teeth out because she was talking when he wanted quiet. So we can add physical violence to the sexual violence.
So when Jaime shows up to “liberate” Harrenhal” he tells her she’ll be all right but she clearly doesn’t believe it, until one of the Mountain’s Men tries to rape her and Jaime has Ser Ilyn cut off his head and give it to Pia.
I remember the line is something like “it felt like justice” and that struck me because Jaime is now in the Riverlands and he’s trying (not always succeeding) to do justice which is what we associate Beric Dondarrion with. Except he’s gone and Lady Stoneheart is doing vengeance now, not justice. It made me wonder if Jaime might be able to win some of the disillusioned members of the Brotherhood to his side.
I don’t know what’s going to happen there but, well, the point of this post is that so many people see Jaime as someone with shit for honor, and an oath breaker or whatever. But think about what Pia sees. A dashing hero. The only many who won’t rape or otherwise have relations with her (because he’s devoted to Cersei and we need to work on that, but it’s worth nothing that she would see him as faithful). The one who stops her from being raped.
And then! To add to the cuteness, Jaime pretends he’s Emma Woodhouse for a chapter and fixes her up with his squire, Peck whom he deems worthy, and lets them do it in his tent.
Cersei complains Jaime should’ve been the girl (and I somewhat disagree because Jaime is frankly a better person and is therefore a better man and a better woman). Jaime would be a fun girl. though. He’d be an awesome matchmaker and could quip with the Queen of Thorns over cheese. Probably a lot of hair flips.

As an art request, please may I have some pia of harenhal she’s my favorite minor character 🫶🖤
Sure of course!!
I really like Pia as a character. From a writing perspective, she’s very similar to Pod, Mya, Gendry— lowborn, minor characters who we see from multiple points of view. We see a lot of development for these characters across the books, even though they’re peripheral (Well. Pod and Gendry aren’t really peripheral, but you get what I’m saying). It’s through these characters that I think we see a lot of George’s arguments surrounding class, feudalism, and war. Pia is also I think one of the most real characters in the books. Who doesn’t know a girl like Pia in their own life? How many people like her have existed throughout history? Some of us are like her ourselves. Yes, a lot of our main characters are easy to project ourselves onto, but characters like Pia are I think the truest audience surrogates, in some ways.
I really hope that she finds a happy ending.
