I like to post pictures of myself doing yoga in a pretty background on social media. It's quite shallow of me. Is it really my practice? Not at all. I share poses that I can do well. Never ones I struggle with. I usually take 3 or 4 photos and pick the best. At least half of them I edit for a more aesthetic look. The truth is that I didn't practice for the first four days of my trip. There is simply too much fun stuff happening and life gets in the way sometimes. Sure I've done a few poses for myself, but not a full practice. I had the opportunity to practice at a Bikram studio in Bangkok, but chose to tour a cool temple instead. Do you blame me? Finally Rebecca and I got to practice last night. We did a short Bikram series (one set instead of two of each posture) because it was already 8pm and we needed dinner and showers before an early day today. It wasn't in a beautiful location as you can see. I wore clothing that was comfortable instead of pretty and my hair was a mess because I need a shower. I fell out of postures and complained about my body aching from 4 full days of sitting or walking to the extreme. The point is that I practiced. Even on vacation. Even though I'm tired and swollen ankles. Even though I don't have a mat. Even though it cuts into my time to relax. Even though it was in a dark corner with hard floors. I hope that posting this helps you to embrace and love your practice. It doesn't matter where or what you do. Do what your body needs. Do it for you
