There is nothing that beats the feeling of a good practice. Comment with 💗 if you know what I mean. _ I flew to NYC just to practice for two days with my teacher @sharathjoisr It was the best practice since I've been back from India. The energy was pure magic. There is just no substitute for giving your all and laying your heart and soul down as a student. Whatever stuckness is in your body, whatever heaviness is in your heart, whatever problems you may have had--you leave them on the mat, in all your sweat and effort. And then you get up off the mat that little bit happier, that little bit more filled with love and, well, you just glow. _ It's so hard to keep the inspiration to practice on your own. And if you do get on your mat it's so hard to tune into the deeper work. It's challenging enough to just unroll the mat and start, let alone delve into the places that scare you. Having a teacher is a blessing. Not everyone has a teacher, so if you do consider yourself lucky and blessed. We made @omstarsofficial to help share the amazing feeling of being supported in the spiritual journey of yoga with everyone. Muscle memory can work for us and against us. After a long break from handstanding, my muscles reverted to their old strengths and weaknesses as I take up the practice again. . . . Similarly, when we've spent years entrenched in uncertainty, fear, or low-self worth, those somatic experiences get trapped into our bodies. They can surface at the least provocation, but especially when we take up a practice meant to address them. . . . A consistent yoga practice can support us as we identify those reoccurring and unconscious tendencies in our minds and muscles. Trauma-conscious yoga, for example, can supplement your work with a clinician to reconnect your psychological and somatic experiences. Asana (postures) are the most fun part of yoga for me to represent on social media. All the movement, though, is in preparation for the seated practice where even more transformative work can take place. . . . Meditation is challenging, especially when you're just beginning. I recommend guided practices to start. Assisted meditation, like using malas and mantras, can also help us stay present and channel our energy toward a specific goal or intention. I can't encourage you enough, though, to leave time and space for a still, silent, practice!
