Tuesday Taste

Here is a just a little bit of a WIP I’m working on. I”m calling it Nightmares for right now.

All Tastes are in Draft Form. Hyde loved that his room was pitch dark, it helped him sleep. Sleep was and always had been his enemy. Wether it was he because couldn't do it, stay asleep, or the nightmares that plagued him it was always a battle. Sometimes he won, but most nights he lost, and he spent a good portion of the night awake or in some state of half awake/half haunted by mistakes that would never go away. It was one of those nights, he was drifting in and out, so the pounding on his door didn’t scare him. It just really pissed him off. He rolled to his side, and read it was 3 AM. He felt a growl pull up in his chest. He pushed off his cot, threw on his sweats, wrenched the door opened and came face to face with Forman. 

“What the hell Forman? Are you drunk?”

Eric stared at his friend. God he looked bad, he had gone to hell in a hand basket the last six months. Hyde was thinner, had huge bags under his eyes, and his face looked like life had stomped all over it. Now he was going to add to it. He never imagined in his worst nightmare that he was going to have say the words that were caught in his throat. 

Hyde wasn’t fully awake enough to grasp Forman looked like he was in shock. All he saw was his friend standing like a moron in front of him speechless.

“What the FUCK FORMAN? IT’S 3AM! WHAT DO YOU WANT?”

Eric tried to push the words out, and all he got out was “Jackie”

As soon as the word Jackie hit Hyde’s ears, his reaction as always was to get pissed. If he focused on any other emotion involving her, it would drown him. 

“You woke me up for Jackie? She better be dead.” He spewed nastily.

Hyde didn’t mean the words. He was tired, he was pissed he was awake, and even thinking about her made him want to crawl into a hole and drink it all away. He watched his words fall on Eric, and his face go bone white. Worse, he pulled his eyes away from his. Whatever sleep was left in his body snapped away instantly. Hyde’s heart started to pound, and his lungs were starting to go tight. 

“Forman?” He didn’t say anything else. 

Eric, took a deep breath and continued to look away from Hyde. He didn’t want to see it. He couldn’t see it. He could watch his mom hear the news and stay standing. He could watch his dad, and not collapse, but he knew he couldn’t watch it infiltrate Hyde’s understanding. 

“There was a fire at the mansion and…..” 

He still couldn’t get it out. It was stuck. Because as much as she drove him nuts, he didn’t want it to be true.

Hyde’s temper exploded with fear, “And what? And what Forman?” He stepped forward and grabbed Forman by the shirt. He shook him, and yelled it again,

“And what?”

Rewrite the Stars | Teaser

Pairing: Haldir x reader

Preview:

“That was when you froze, like a sudden winter storm descended upon you and locked your limbs in place. This is it, this is the scene; the moment Haldir died in the movies. But this isn’t a movie, he’s going to die in real life right before your eyes. Dread and panic surged through you in that moment.

“No. No. No. No!” the words repeat in your mind, each word more desperate than the last.

But you couldn’t move, unable to even bring yourself to blink as you watched the event unfold. The air stung your eyes as they continued to lose moisture and your mouth turned drier than the desert. The grip on your sword slackened, just enough for it to nearly clatter to the dirt if not for your stiff fingers that acted as a hook. Like a war drum, your heartbeat pounded viciously against your chest, commanding your body into action. But nothing happened as your mind fell blank. An orc came behind Haldir, hitting him with a powerful blow, painful enough to cause the elf to stagger. His delicate elven features that never displayed anything other than passiveness mimicked the fear staining your own.

He’s going to die. He’s going to die before your eyes just as Boromir did. 

And at that moment, it was like the spell that held you broke as the memories of Boromir resurfaced. Phantom tears fell down your face, copying the tears you shed for Boromir. You were running, completely disregarding the orcs that were surrounding you. They hit you with their blades and pierced crossbow bolts into your flesh, but you didn’t care. The only thing on your mind in that moment was Haldir, unwilling to let him suffer the same fate as Boromir. 

Each footstep pounded into the Earth, leaving splotches of dirt and blood on your boots. Your breathing was heavy, not from exertion but instead the anxiety that bubbled inside of you. You watched as Haldir managed to slay the first orc that struck him, but you knew there would be more. And when the second one brought it’s blade up to strike him you’d managed to reach the steps leading up to the part of the wall he was atop. 

You screamed at the top of your lungs, or maybe you didn’t? It was hard to tell with the ringing in your ears that silenced any noise. Taking them two at a time, you rushed up the stairs. And by the time you managed to climb all of them, the orc swung at Haldir, causing the elf’s knees to buckle beneath him from the force of the blow. You screamed again, and this time you were sure the sound escaped your lungs. The timber of the scream closely resembled the wail of a banshee roaring in anger. 

The fleeing soldiers around you turned their gazes to you and the orc charging towards Haldir from behind shifted his attention to you, at least you think he did. It was hard to tell in the shroud of night. Haldir fell to the ground, but his eyes latched onto you, watching as you charged an orc more than twice your size. But you weren’t afraid, you didn’t have the time to feel fear.”
